Why does using Homekit require having a myq account?

Using the new Homekit enabled bridge, why are you required to have a myq account and use the myq ios app? The point of homekit is to have the device (garage door bridge) interact directly with homekit so you don't have to have a ton of third party apps floating around.

Brian, you need the MyQ app to securely manage garage door opener functions. But you don't always have to interact with the MyQ app to perform a function, such as closing the garage door. Just ask Siri to do. That help? Lauren
