WD962KEV + MYQ-G0201 + Homekit = All Good?

I currently have two garage door openers that are both controlled with a MYQ-G0201.

I am looking at replacing one opener with the WD962KEV but I have a couple questions:

1. Will the MYQ-G0201 be able to control the new opener with the smartphone app without the additional wireless gateway?  I would assume yes, but just want to make sure.

2. When Homekit compatibility is released, will the MYQ-G0201 and the WD962KEV be compatible (assuming a firmware update), or will I need a completely new wireless gateway as well?

I want to ensure Homekit compatibility and do not want to purchase a new opener now, only to have an additional required purchase to work with Homekit.

thanks!

Chamberlain is a HomeKit partner. We are reviewing our product plans for HomeKit integration. Select Chamberlain MyQ-enabled products will support HomeKit. This includes specific Chamberlain Wi-Fi garage door openers with Smartphone Control and a HomeKit version of Chamberlain MyQ Garage.

If you want homekit, I would not buy a GDO right now, it sounds like most will not be supported if any at all.

Most likely will require new homekit hardware

Yeah, I spoke to a very nice gentleman today on their support line who told me almost verbatim what Eric said.  He said they were under very strict rules about giving specific model number or any type of timeline for HomeKit.  I asked about if something was coming even just in 2016 and he said he could not confirm anything for 2016.

So, no purchase for me.  Bummer, Amazon was having quite a deal today.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Got to move inventory before they release HomeKit enabled devices.
