Unable to Add Device

Just purchased a brand new garage door opener with the MyQ app and internet gateway. When I log in to the phone App or web portal and try to add a device, it asks for the serial number of the garage door opener, however, the serial number is 12 digits long, NOT the 10 digits the portal is looking for to add a device? It won't let me add the device with this longer serial number. How do I solve this? I bought this opener complete with the MyQ internet gateway but I cannot add the garage door opener!

i do believe it is requesting the serial number of the DEVICE itself, not the GDO.  It has almost nothing to do with the type of GDO or model of it.  The only thing that's required is that the GDO is supportive of the device itself. That is required, so that the open, and close codes can actually be understood by the GDO actuating software.  The Chamberlain MyQ is just emulating another door opening fob, and the mechanism  has no other doings.  Think of the MyQ as another little "Clicker" you keep in the car, except that it works with your phone's wireless connection rather than a mechanical "clicker".  Hope this helps you!
