Status not updating after closing, false “open” notification

Almost daily, when leaving home and closing the door with the fob, the MyQ hub does not recognize that the door has closed. This then leads to an “open notification” despite the fact that we had confirmed that the door did in fact close and remained closed. Any idea how to fix this inconvenience? My wife does not trust the hub.

Hey Jaime! Can you send a photo of the inside of you garage door and where the sensor is? I had to relocate my sensor when I had the hub as even a little wind would send off false alerts. The sensor battery also could be weak try replacing that

Hi Jamie, do you have open notifications turned on and if so do you get these normally.  If you don't have open notifications on, turn them on and see if they report normally.  Also try the open for a period of time to see if the sensor can report that as well.  If these don't know it may be the sensor.  First test is to and release press the button on the sensor and see if the hub beeps.  Wait 5 seconds and press the button again.  Repeat this 5 times, if the hub repeatedly beeps its probably not the battery, plus if it is you should be getting a low battery indicator.  If you don't get a repeated beep, definitely replace the battery.
Also if this is a 2nd door where you purchased a second sensor, make sure the sensor type and hour compatible.  There's still lots of 1st gen sensors out there (as well as hubs) and if they were bought separately, there may be a compatibility issue.  The website lists what sensor is compatible with what hub, otherwise you may need a bridge device.

Hi- I just purchased a MyQ last week and it works great EXCEPT I have a similar problem.  When I close my door with my remote, it does not update the app (it still thinks it's open).  Then, when I tell the app to close the garage, it opens it.  This does not occur when I use the wall button.

Everything else is working perfectly.

As I mentioned the door sensor location or battery may be to blame. I know Jamie personally and worked with him to relocate the sensor to a sturdier spot on the door and he has said it much better now

I have since had my door opener fail and so bought a full flow my q that uses a belt drive and it does not give false alerts due to using the belt position rather than a sensor to determine if the door is opened or closed

Thanks, but I don't believe it's the battery, because it works fine in all other scenarios... and it's not that I'm receiving false alerts, rather, it's just not showing as closed when I open the app.  I believe that it may have to do with me leaving the wifi with my cell phone before the garage fully closes.  Is there any known issue/bug with that?
