SmartThings MyQ "lite" application no longer works

SmartThings app no longer works. I reached out to the developer and he said you have shut off a developer API? The app was really cool and something I used daily. Can you please consider putting it back on? Or tell us the reason why you can't? If you cannot. I would appreciate it if you would integrate with SmartThings.

The MyQ Connect SmartApp used a private endpoint that is not officially supported by Chamberlain. Due to impacts on our platform, we have informed SmartThings that we can no longer allow access by this SmartApp, and have closed the IP address it uses.

Although the MyQ garage door openers will not be able to run on the SmartThings platform in the short term, SmartThings is working directly with us to officially bring MyQ garage door openers and our functionality to SmartThings platform in the coming months.

Thomas is dropping truth bombs. Chamberlain is a junk company that swindled me and many others by not only showing a lack of support for their products but actively extinguishing functions that are basic in 2017.

the coming months??????????? this is ridiculous.....heres an idea, why not build your app to have connectivity like it should have A YEAR AGO, and THEN shut down the API. Instead you take a functionality that was a reason people bought your product and removed it......what do you care, you already took their money....so sad

Incredibly bad move by a company. Why kill functionality that your users are enjoying? If its having negative impacts then why don't you fix your service. I am going to change my Home Depot reviews on this product to reflect my utter disappointment.

Fix your services and create a proper API already for 3rd party access. Do you know how incredibly bad your MyQ is compared to being able to integrate the product with other smarthubs and products?

I can't believe this isn't compatible with Amazon Echo.  What a joke!  I will also be returning mine.  If I wanted an additional garage door opener I would have just bought one at a fraction of the price.

Chamberlain- Please do consider the other home automation platforms out there other than Smartthings. Openhab, Verde and many users of other platforms had relied upon the API to feed info into their home automation systems. I respect that the way it was set up with the non supported endpoint impacted your systems, Chamberlain has to look at the bigger picture before it became a bigger problem, but please understand many people are and will be upset. Again please try to find some way to offer similar functionality that would be platform neutral. As a last resort perhaps use IFTTT as a medium to get it done. Thanks, and I hope this all comes to a happy solution sooner than later.

Please reconsider shutting down the api. I use openhab and have lost a major chunk of functionality without it.

if they cared about customers it would already be compatible with all of the big names in automation....

OR, before modifying the API they would have created the correct path for consumers, updating their APP for integration.

I will add to this.  I bought this because of the claims being made.  I have fought with this for over a year now and been patient, but this is a breaker.  In all occasions where I have purchased garage door openers, I have purchased Chamberlain products.  Always been happy.  So when I saw this product, I didn't hesitate much.  Now, I will no longer purchase Chamberlain products.

Not sure why they made the choices they did, but they did, in fact, loose a loyal customer.

MyQ Community Manager: Smartthings lite integration was VERY low impact to your API as it only sent requests on open/close requests.  For me, this was probably less than 10 requests PER MONTH.  As far as "impact to your platform, I'm calling BS since the door status polling was removed months ago (I personally replaced that functionality with a zwave sensor).  This was literally the only reason I purchased the MyQ Internet Gateway.  Please direct me to a way to get a refund on the gateway if this isn't going to be fixed immediately.

MyQ Community Manager:  When replacing a faulty garage door opener a few months ago, I compared brands and functionality and ultimately elected to pay a premium to get the MyQ functionality.  What was enticing was the fact the open home automation systems could interact with it.  Now you've taken it away.  It is fine to put a new API in place, keeping it open, but simply turning the old one off with no notice.  That's no way to do business.  Please, provide an API solution that the neutral community can work with.  It's ridiculous to have to use a different application for each piece of home automation.  Very disappointing.

MyQ Community Manager: With the upcoming SmartThings integration, will this work with the current "CIGBU Internet Gateway" or will this require the "My Garage 2.0" or CIGBU 2.0?

I have a MyQ compatible opener and I have to ask before buying a gateway at this time.

With the concern over traffic to the Chamberlain's servers, will the upcoming solution enable SmartThings to communicate directly over one's home network to get status/issue commands instead of going through the middleman of Chamberlain's servers?

Very disappointing. As a developer myself, I was using that endpoint on my raspberry pi to do things like turn on my lights when it detects the garage door opening late at night.

I even built out functionality of some key things this opener should have had as features when it first launched like automatically closing the door if it's been over for x amount of minutes and send an email out.

It's a shame to close that API endpoint. Please built out proper first party API, it really should not take that long at all. It should not take this long to get the MyQ integrated with such well documented and well made services like SmartThings, Echo, IFTTT, etc. These companies have a great framework and foundation for smart home automation projects while Chamberlain is still struggling to get their iPhone app to the resolution of an iPhone 6.

Chamberlain, reach out to me directly if you would like my help in making the MyQ a product that can actually be useful to the many avid smart home enthusiasts like me. The faster you get these integrated the more $$ you can make!

Very disappointed. I'll be leaving reviews accordingly.. get your act together and support your customers not shut them down. I hate that I have a key element of my home simply blocked from automation because of your decision and inability to create a secure, supported API. Lame. I bought the most expensive product in the market and expected better.

Wow... Very sad that this is still an issue. I'm disappointed. I was the first is a group to try this product, I will now be directing them elsewhere...

Chamberlain is no longer a smart device.  Sad!  Will be recommending something cheaper if the bells and whistles get broken on purpose.

OpenHab had the same problem and they were able to upgrade to a new version of the API (v4?).  Maybe SmartThings could put in the same upgrade.  See the February 20th entries on this OpenHab MyQ post:  https://community.openhab.org/t/chamberlain-myq-binding/4192/147
