Smartthing Integration

Recently on the Smartthings Home Automation community it was stated that Chamberlain was shutting down communication with the Smartthings hub. I believe at last count there are some 2100 of your customers using Smartthings integration that you have just angered. I realise there is an official integration in the works but would not the smart path to have been to leave the unsupported integration running until the official integration was up and running?

I mean seriously I have owned Chamberlain garage door openers on every house I have owned for the last 30 years. To just shut it down like that with little warning shows how little customer care is in your thought process. So I guess my real question is what is the timeline for "official" integration? Or should I begin the quest for a replacement garage door opener manufacturer?

Agreed.  This is bull.  There has been no "Official" integration because both companies are dragging their feet.  The ONLY reason I bought a MyQ door opener is because of this integration and now it's being turned off.  How do I get a refund on my 3 month old opener?

I am actually quite lucky in this case. I was just getting ready to go purchase the MyQ door opener in the next few weeks. My plan was to integrate it with my Smartthings. After this development I certainly will be looking elsewhere. Such a shame ☹️

Just the opposite in my case. I read LiftMaster/MyQ was compatible with my Smarthings hub, and that's why I bought it. Apparently, what I read was outdated. Wish now I would have bought something else.

Maybe though, I can dump MyQ and go with a Linear garage door controller instead?

Chamberlain does not care about angering customers, we are the stupid suckers who were so dumb we bought their products. So spend a few minutes and post all over the internet how stupid we were. As they say fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

This isn't ok. Chamberlain and Smartthings needs to figure this out. The fact that API access is being pulled without leaving their customers with options is incredibly poor customer service.

I have happily recommended Chamberlain/Liftmaster garage door openers to many of my friends based exclusively on the ST integration. I will be letting them all know not to follow that advice and stop recommending these garage door openers going forward until Chamberlain can get this resolved.

All, take a look at this thread: https://myqcommunity.chamberlain.com/chamberlainmyq/topics/add-other-users-to-myq-account
Long how long users have been asking for them to update their app here.  Still, nothing.  Do you really think they are going to move on THIS request when they won't even update their own app?

I'm glad there is a separate thread for Chamberlain pulling ST support but I really don't see Chamberlain cooperating at all.

I personally don't see them changing anything as a result of this thread but I do however hope they at least take notice which hasn't happened as yet. If anyone has a better avenue for contacting Chamberlain please make the suggestion, I am in. A letter writing campaign to their corporate offices or CEO, or whatever because I hate to lose this integration.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for reaching out.  We're aware there's a lot of interest in new platforms and while I'm unable to reveal future product strategies and partnerships, know the Chamberlain team is working hard on the next versions of our MyQ-enabled products and will have announcements in the coming months.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Chuck

Coming months? This is ridiculous! Why haven't they figured it out YET?!  The ONLY reason I purchased the MyQ was for ST integration. and then POOF it went away ... NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Me too. I bought for the SmartThings compatibility. Learning later that LiftMaster was no longer compatible, I would have bought something else.

Chamberlain doesnt seem to care what their customers want. The only real solution is using a tilt sensor in combination with MyQ Lite: https://community.smartthings.com/t/r...

Sad that two big companies couldnt make something work.

Is it going to be a fee based subscription for Smartthings integration like with Google Home or IFTTT?

If so please don't bother - I'll stick with MyQ Lite and the tilt sensor like Allan D mentioned.

Or will Chamberlain be pulling some other shenanigans like they are with the Apple Home Bridge?

Really regretting replacing my Genie Garage Door opener with a Chamberlain at this point....

Jerry, we're constantly in the process of integrating MyQ technology with third parties and will make these integrations available as soon as we can. Lauren

Z-Wave Hubs are utilized because those who want to control their garage door from their phone want all of their smart devices in one app. No matter how good MyQ is as a controller, it will NEVER be a HUB for all my devices in the home. Chamberlain should not be so obtuse as to think that their business is to become a software company. They build garage doors... just like auto manufacturers build cars, but the difference being that auto manufacturers modestly integrate other companies products knowing the desires of their consumers. Chamberlain somewhere along the line wanted to have a gimmick and now are realizing that all that money spent in R&D on their own app will never be re-couped. DO NOT THROW GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD CHAMBERLAIN! Recognize that your consumers will want the garage door and opener you produce, but the tech should be compatible/integrated not proprietary! If you do not figure out a solution another company will and steal market share or third party integrators will fill the void you are producing. You do not have to worry about software issues, only compatibility of hardware.

I will buy another opener with Z-wave compatibility if you cannot figure out how to do so. I will tell others about this opener who use z-wave (which guess what? will be the entire next generation of homeowners...) and people will switch. It is not hard to figure out Mr. Scott and Mr. Markwart, your tech is not wanted unless it plays nice with others. And if you can't figure that one out, Samsung and other manufacturers will, and will beat you at your own game. And I will help them by voting with my money.

Wow, I am not getting that Chamberlain garage door for my father's day/bday present after all. Genie and a GoControl will be getting my money. Shame, you guys almost had me. Like it was said before, you guys are gonna lose the IOT battle. Wink hardly works, Homekit will eventually discontinue due their strict security, by that point everyone will be on GoControl.

I should have read this before, I bought 2x Chamberlain myQ and replaced non WiFi Chamberlain I had. Now I realize that it does not support smartthings and there is a subscription cost to use with IFTT. What a greedy company this is, what a mess I am into now :(
