Siri Stops Working, Can't Find Garage Door, But Homekit Works Just Fine

Until a couple of days ago from this post, Siri and HomeKit was working flawlessly at my home. I was able to use either Siri or through the HomeKit app to manipulate the garage door. At some point Siri appears to not been able to find the garage door. It troubles me that this issue only happens with Siri. All my other HomeKit products work fine throughout the home and I can still manipulate the garage door using Apple's Homekit app or the MyQ app. I've tried restarting everything, from the phone, the network, the bridge, and nothing has worked.  Please help.

Are you using the new app? I have the same issue, and I’m 99% sure it’s the new MyQ app they’ve been nagging us to upgrade to. Once I downgraded to the previous app Siri is able to open my garage door again.

I am using “MyQ Garage & Access Control” ver. 4.131.1. My opener is a LiftMaster MyQ. The app appears to be up to date too. Thanks for your reply.

Don’t bother downgrading, I misspoke (literally)...when Siri opened my door I was talking to my phone, however my iPad sitting next to me also heard me, executed the command and opened my door. So opening/closing via Siri works on my iPad but not my iPhone. The key differences between the two are:

• IPad Pro running iOS 12.2, Touch ID
• iPhone XR running 12.3.1, Face ID

Both have the same versions of MyQ installed, and both have the old and new versions. Siri stopped working right around the time I upgraded my iPhone to 12.3. On the iPhone I tried uninstalling the old version, have just the new version installed, and both installed...no go on Siri.

Duane and Jose, can you confirm what version iOS you’re running?

I have an iPhone 10 with iOS 12.2.... I think Siri stopped working for me when I installed the new MyQ app. I know it was working after the last time I updated my iOS, because it’s been at least a month, I believe...

I just tried it with my iPad Pro running 12.2 and Siri opened/closed the door. The strange thing is, there is no MyQ/Chamberlain app installed on my iPad.

That’s cool. I believe HomeKit can run independently from the product app itself, and as long as your iPhone and iPad are on the same account the iPad will accept Siri HomeKit commands without the app.

I am running 12.3.1 on my iPhone. I have an iPad Pro 11" 2018 running 12.3.1 as well, and a MacBook Pro running Mojave and I get the same result on each of those devices. I tried it with my wife's iPhone which is running iOS 12.3.1 as well and it did work! This makes me think that the problem is related to my HomeKit account which uses my iCloud account to verify my identity, or something like that.

Same here. Siri was working fine, now it does not. Works ok from HOME app. I am also on 12.3.1. I guess the common factor is the change to IOS recently and presumably Apple IOS broke something, but how do we get it fixed?

yes... I was just going to post my workaround for this issue. What I did was set as scene in HomeKit and I named it “open the door“. now all I have to do is tell Siri to open the door. I could set a scene to close the door, but that’s not really necessary because I can just close the door on my way into the house.
