What's the trick to automatically schedule my garage to open at 4pm every weekday? I'd like it to open shortly before my daughter's bus arrives.

Hi Dave,

Our scheduling feature allows users to close the garage door and turn lights on and off at specific times. Due to security issues, you cannot schedule the garage door to open.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your reply. Why is it a security issue to schedule a garage door to open?

I'm not sure what the issue is, but perhaps the app could issue an alert at the specified time that instructs me to tap an 'accept/approve' button, which would then immediately open the garage upon my approval?

Dave -  Thank you for your feedback.  We made the decision to allow the garage door to close since this secures the home, but we chose not to allow the garage door to open at a scheduled time.  -Chuck

We as the individual consumers should be the ones who can make the decision of whether or not we want the garage to be opened based on a timed schedule.

Perhaps you can offer this through an 'advanced' section of the MyQ app.

Wow. This is exactly the reason that I purchased the product, too. I don’t understand why this would not be a function of this product. If I want to turn lights on or off remotely, I can, and I should also be able to close AND OPEN the garage door remotely. If you are not allowing this for a liability / security issue, this is wrong! I would think there is much more liability surrounding a door closing remotely. I have a need to open the garage door remotely at a specific time every weekday. It was not clear prior to purchase and installation that this was not an option. How can I contact you to discuss?

Hello,

You can use the garage door sensor. And this sensor also work in best garage door insulation kit, if your garage door are insulated. I also using this sensor to open my garage door automatically. Really this is amazing. You should try this, surely you will like it. Thanks.

its a security "feature" meaning they don't trust their product to not get hacked so they don't bother adding it as a capability

I need to schedule the open feature so the mail man or delivery can deliver to our door. When will this feature will be added? Any other third party App or other device can do this work?

Hi Peter,

As of now we only allow to "close" the garage door and we do not have any information and/or dates on whether we will allow that feature. We do appreciate your feedback and will continue to pass it along.

I second the suggestion of giving customers the ability to schedule a garage door to open at a specified time. I understand that your legal department may be advising you against such actions for liability reasons, but I think such extreme risk aversion is short-sighted. We now live in a world where
1) I can remotely unlock my door,
2) Amazon is considering in-house delivery in which a delivery person would unlock a customer’s door.

In this context, giving me the ability to schedule my garage door to merely open at a specified time seems eminently reasonable.

Moreover, I’m happy to sign a reasonable waiver before using such a service.

Thank you,
Adam

They'll never do it, sorry to say. Just like they won't ever offer Alexa/Google/etc integration. Had I known all the limitations when my installer suggested the 8550, I never would have wasted my money. All that said, I've worked out my own inexpensiveway to bypass their pig headedness. My solution, which was developed to allow smarthome control, easily allows a scheduled open/close if you, the consumer, decide that is what you need.

I have to agree I'd like a system that can schedule an open event. I'm fine if it's a sepeate security setting, but not allowing it seems anti-consumer. As an IT professional, the system is just as vulnerable to unattended open since the app itself can open the doors. It's silly not to roll this out. I hope the company considers this more seriously.

I'm glad you appreciated the feedback, which I'm happy to provide, but I'd also be interested to know what action the company plans to take in response to said feedback.

Thank you,
Adam

We purchased a Gate operator for our business, and we cannot schedule to open this either.
Not only that, but the app only allows one user with access to adding and deleting gates/doors and changing password and account info.
Liftmaster is behind in the game, and I immediately regret our decision in purchasing this product.
We are now stuck either replacing this or finding a 3rd party system to allow basic users and/or open/close schedule.

Same here. Mine is not a garage, but rather a gate opener, and I want to schedule an Open each Saturday morning before the gardener comes. Please, please add it. What's the point of being able to close but not open?

I'm not familiar with the gate openers, but if you can wire into either a wall controller, or even the wireless transmitter (same idea...just a button inside the guts of either you solder onto), you can do what I have done to get around Chamberlains pig headedness. The app that controls the relay can be programmed on a schedule. Plus geofencing, account sharing etc is now available to you.
