Overhead Door Odyssey Series Programming

Has anyone had any luck programming Overhead Door brand garage doors to a MyQ hub? Specifically I am trying to program an Odyssey 1000 garage door opener. Essentially it takes me through four attempts to program to door -- first two are just pressing the program button, then waiting. Last two involve pressing the program button, then a remote button, then waiting. In any scenario, at the end of it all, the app just tells me programming failed. I've tried about 15 times with no luck. One odd thing is that the programming mode on the garage door itself doesn't last near as long as the MyQ programming attempts. I've tried setting the opener into programming mode again while MyQ was working, but with no luck.

I attempted to contact MyQ phone support, but they weren't much help -- basically said"maybe" Overhead Door isn't supported anymore and I should call them, but this seems like a MyQ problem to me.

Interesting that there is no reply here.  I'm having the same issue and when I see no reply from the manufacturer it makes my decision to return easy.

Lauren,

Thank you for your reply. I would really like this device to work.

I have same gdo, but a slightly different issue. I have a green light. When I program the door with phone on wifi I get an error connecting to server. When I program with mobile data it goes to the third try, has me push the remote button, and says programming was successful. The problem is, it doesn't actually control the door. It won't open or close. I've reset it, deleted the device and place and gone through programming a dozen times. Did I mention I want it to work?

Hi,  I have contacted the technical support team.
The overhead door legacy 850 model is NOT COMPATIBLE as it was manufactured 2016-present.
They also were not able to advise if a firmware update in the future would fix this issue

I'm extremely disappointed and can no longer get a refund a the retail store.

Steven - thanks for taking the time to provide an update, and I sincerely apologize for your disappointment.

I'll certainly keep you updated if a firmware update in the future fixes this incompatibility issue.

Best,
Chuck

Still no response / updates from Chamberlain
I'm glad i cut my losses and sold it to someone that could make use of it.
Before buying this product do your research if it will actually work on your opener...

I see this is an old thread but I want to revive it with a current complaint/request. I have a MyQ Smart Garage Hub purchased in December 2017 as follows:

MyQ Smart Garage Hub
Model: MYQ-G0301-D
Mfg: 11/17
Serial Number: CG08460165C1-R
Firmware: 1.0.0

I am trying to program it to run the following opener:

Overhead Door Odyssey 1000 (mfg 2014 but with a motherboard replacement 2016 or 2017)

This is a Genie-style opener and on the supported list of openers. After calling MyQ technical support they tell me that since I replaced the door opener motherboard in 2016 or later (true) the MyQ would not program it. This follows other compaints in this thread.

Chamberlain - Please fix this issue and notify me when a firmware update has been released.

So I just purchased the MyQ Garage Door Hub because on the box it said it was compatible with Overhead Door gdo ‘s. I couldn’t get it to connect so I search the net and found this thread. So now I’m out the time I’ve wasted installing this and more time having to return it. Are there any updates on making this work???

Don’t wait on chamberlain to provide any updates with this. Cut your losses and return it while you still have the chance. I spent 3 attempts and hours over the the phone with the chamberlain support techs trying to trouble shoot this and eventually they said there was nothing they could do.

Overhead door does have a similar called OHDAnywhere. Which I’ve had no issues with.

Yeah, considering it’s been 24 hours since I’ve posted and heard nothing but crickets, I don’t think I’ll buy anything with the Chamberlain name again. Thanks for your input and info on the other system.

So, I too have the odyssey 1000. Tho the first of two doors setup so fast and easy that a week later I got a add on door sensor for the second door. Also an odyssey 1000. But I can not get this second one to work at all. The app never asks me to press the button on the sensor. So confused now.

I have found a solution for pairing my Odyssey 1000 (model 7030H) with the myQ Smart Garage Hub.

After briefly pressing the square programming button on the Odyssey 1000 unit, its light turned blue.  I then pressed that button again, and its lights turned purple.  I believe this second step (purple lights) is the necessary step to get this to work.

Using the Chamberlain myQ app on my iPhone, I then repeated the pairing procedure.  On step 1 of 4, the garage door opened, and was paired.

Sorry for the late reply, but hopefully this will help someone else.

Derek when was your Odyssey manufactured? I have two of this model and before I start the installation I’m wondering if it will be a waste of time. Mine were probably manufactured in 2017.

Like 2006 ish.
I find the whole process odd. When I setup a new remote, like a normal one from overhead door, I gotta do all kinds of nonsense. The first myQ setup on the first door went smooth AF. No funny business. Now tho, trying to setup a second door using a second door sensor, it goes straight to trying to learn the garage door opener and skips the sensor all together. I’ve given up for now. Will futz with it in a week or so.

So flat out OHD models manufactured after 2016 will not work? Wondering how you determine mfg dates.

Has there been any update from Chamberlain on this? I just purchased the MyQ and they said because my serial number on my opener starts with 18 this has the new logic board in it and will not work with MyQ. "They are working on it" but there was no indication of whether it would be a firmware update to fix or if it would be new hardware. Any info would be appreciated.
