Notifications The Door opens when it we do not open the garage

We get notifications that the garage door opens and closes when we don't open or close the garage, and the garage is not opening or closing on its own. This has caused us to leave work and go home and check on the house and has happened multiple times.

It sounds like a delayed notification. When you get the notification that the door is open, does the status in the app show open (garage door open)? Or is it closed, but the notification may be for an earlier event?

No, it works and worked fine when we open and close it. We get the notifications right away. Definitely not a delayed notification.

I did turn on notifications for closing as well.. To help with the issue of delayed notifications.

However there are times that the garage states it is open... But is in fact closed....

I have "closed" it in that state only to have it open... And sometimes it then disconnects me!

Very frustrating.

Same here.  We've been BLOWN UP with false notifications today.  Frustrating.

Have you contacted them? or found any reason why this is happening?

Ugh.  It was our cleaning folks and we didn't get a notification from Alarm.com that they disarmed our house alarm.  So . . . that was odd.

Lance,
Which MyQ type of product do you have:  (i) MyQ opener with Internet Gateway, (ii) MyQ Garage, or (iii) MyQ Wi-Fi opener?

Hey Lance, a couple of quick questions I receive something similar to that: number one do you have an Apple Watch? Number two what notifications do you have set up just the door open notification? And do you have more than one MyQ hooked up?

I have the Chamberlain MyQ Garage unit, with the little WIFI hub up on a rafter and the sensor unit on the upper left corner of the garage door.
I have a single notification set up to alert me immediately if the door opens.
I don't have an Apple Watch, we have the mobile app installed on two iPhones.
And we only have the one unit.

when you guys get the first notification, do you clear it or dismiss it? The only reason I am asking is that when I set mine up, the biggest issue I had was clearing notifications. When I would clear them, I would get 2-5 MORE alerts right at that time... Sorry more questions: Do you use the same AppleID / email account for both phones? It may not make a difference but it might. The Alerts come via push notifications and Apple may be pushing two each time to the phones, but because they both have the same credentials, it may double things.

If so, can you try uninstalling the app on one of the phones and see if you are still getting the multiple notifications? You may...

It may take a call to chamberlain to clear up. Personally, I stopped using the app-based alerts cause of the multiple duplicates and I have an alternate as I linked MyQ to the Wink Hub I have at home and leverage alerts through Wink right now... I'd like to go back, especially when they get HomeKit figured out, because they come in faster. But I had other things to fight with that I didn't need to keep fighting the duplicate notification battle at that time.

Jim, I have the My Q Garage - leveraging a craftsman opener. It works exceedingly well for me. I have never had any false openings or failed state issues. It works very well remotely as well as right from home. Just hoping soon that via Siri I can open or better geofence :0)

In working with Chamberlain on the notification issues, we felt part of the issue was (as a Dev) I run the iOS Betas often and I had an Apple Watch pulling notifications in the mix too which is something that Chamberlain was not supporting at that time. So, it was simply easier for me to leverage a Wink linkage to MyQ and a Wink robot alert as I also use Wink to connect a bunch of indoor lighting to the Amazon Echo for voice control in the house (without having to have my family always need to hunt down their phones to leverage Siri).

As an example, right now on my iPhone I am running iOS 9.2.1 beta.

A few of the things we worked through were to remove the notification and then delete the app then re-add the app and login and re-create the notification. As my family leverages the same AppleID (mine) for apps, I also had it on the devices for a family calendar and contact list. So, we pulled Chanberlain app off the other devices to try and see if it was sending multiples because of having multiple devices in the Apple DB linked to my account. Those are some thing to try at least.

Cheers and Happy New Year!
