MyQ skill for Amazon Alexa

Any idea when this integration will be built?  I've seen some unsupported solutions using IFTTT and some open source hubs, but it sure seems like something you could and should do.

This seems more to do with Chamberlin, than the functionality that alexa or IFTTT brings. I had made a suggestion to allow, at least, door closure, and status checks. I can understand door opening being an issue. They lump this under a security issue

My high school child could figure this out. Really? Get off your lazy asses and give the consumer what they want. My Schlage front door opens with Alexa. Why can't my garage door?

Really... your schlage door lock can 'open/unlock' with Alexa?!? I can't do that with mine... just lock it and check it its status. Schlage and Amazon said it was a security issue to allow unlock remotely.

Yeah, with August auto lock and unlock feature is built in to the actual August product.  Would be nice if it was available here....

@James .. The Alexa interface to SmartThings for the Schlage Connect lock has had an update.  It can now be configured to unlock the door if you enable this feature (by default it is disabled.)  As a security precaution, you have to speak your security code for the lock when Alexa prompts you for the security code.

I bought mine less than a month ago and was disappointed to find that you can't control it with Alexa. I have been searching for a solution, found one and then it suddenly was pulled from the Skill on Amazon. I was hoping to avoid it but this thing is coming down and going back to the store. This is a deal breaker.

Unfortunety i can not and it no longer works. Chamberlain does not suport and once again pull the plug. Maybe one day they will finally have a officical alexa skill free or for pay. Hopefully before they loose everyone.

Although I fully appreciate the skill and generosity of those who have developed workarounds to add Alexa support to Chamberlain openers, any such solutions are very fragile and subject to changes in the underlying products.

For this reason, I have crossed Chamberlain off my list of candidates for replacement garage door openers.  Before I would buy a Chamberlain, it would need to have fully integrated, fully supported Alexa capabilities.

I am so disappointed in Chamberlain.  After spending so much on door openers and light controls and now it won't work with my Alexa yet can with google and Apple.  Very discouraged with them. I will not buy from them again

Looking at Amazon and Chamberlain, there is more than a hint of irony.

Amazon has become a fantastic success by focusing on the Customer Experience.

Chamberlain, on the other hand, seems content to dispense anodyne banalities but no solutions.  Considering the vast range of smart devices which work with Alexa, the lack of a supported Alexa/Chamberlain interface seems to be a product of either incompetence or indifference.  Or both.

I read online they had teamed with some vendors but I agree let the consumers pick the products that will win or lose!

I have a working solution to integrate your Alexa and a MyQ enabled garage door.
I currently have it working on my house and can issue verbal commands throught Alexa to open and close the door.

I have the files compiled and you will have to do some leg work by editing the files with your login name and password that you use for either liftmaster or myQ. It doesn't matter which site you use as the backend works for both.

You have to create a developer account on AWS (Amazon Web Services), which is free, and you have to create an Alexa Skill with the Alexa Skill Kit (ASK) and load the edited files into a Lambda function you will create.

Once all that is done your skill is automaticall enabled in Alexa and you can issue commands like,"Alexa ask the garage to close"

If you have any doubts or just don't want to or can't create the skill yourself I can do it for you if you really want the MyQ or Liftmaster integration with Alexa.

Just email me at DigitalKonceptz@iCloud.com

Hi, I've sent you an email a few days ago, but have not gotten the skill.  I did not give you the email that my Amazon is linked too, I was just expecting source code,  If you need something else to share this, let me know.

Andy Brown,
Are you sure your comment is located in the correct forum?  This thread is for Alexa integration with Chamberlain garage door openers, not printers.

From previous interactions with Chamberlain, they are a greedy company, and try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. I'm sure they are going to want to ---- the customer for a subscription charge of some sort. It's best to buy an opener from another manufacturer.

Lauren, You wrote that post 11 months ago. It’s vague and didn’t give anyone any reassurance. Are we asking about a wide variety of third party apps? Nope. We are all asking about Alexa. Are you going to make this happen or not? It’s a simple yes or no. I’m sitting here with boxes of chamberlain “smart” garage door products my husband purchased for me as a surprise. Looks like the only surprise is that we are returning all of it. I’m not willing to dumb down my smart home. Give me a reason to keep these products.

I had this working a few months ago using a work-around someone suggest...for about a week.  Then there was an upgrade that killed it.  This is Chamberlain not wanting this to happen at all.  I will switch companies next time I shop for an opener. After all...it just opens a door.

No it is not just Garage door. I have plenty of light switches and plugs as well and to have to option to Say " Hey Alexa open Kitchen light" is, was, and always will be awesome.

if it was just a garage door great but half my house is retro fitted with Liftmaster light switches i paid  good money for. We should have ability to control them from modern day technology like Alexa. They added to Apple home kit and Google why not Alexa.

I won't invest anymore with a company that won't play; the rest of my home is on another system that works with Alexa.  So to me it is just a door that a more cooperative company can do.

2 years... 8 months later... still nothing Lauren? Is a third party controller a better buy at this point? Sure looks like it. Tell Mr. Markwart and Mr. Scott that they are helping to make up minds out here.

At this point I'm scrapping it and I assume most other people are/will do the same.  Fortunately I got my gateway from ebay for $30, so not much loss here.  As someone else in the forum pointed out; check out TailWind.  It looks like a great product that actually delivers unlike Chamberlain.

Chamberlain is far too busy trolling cyberspace trying to block, erase, or shut down free work-arounds to actually focus on customer service. Chamberlain does not have the right to require a post-purchase monthly fee from owners of hardware purchased from Chamberlain ,and hopefully enough consumers will file suit in small claims court to make Chamberlain reevaluate the bottom line profitability of this shockingly unethical policy. Meanwhile, don't hold your breath waiting for integration. Intellectual property laws are likely the cause of the reluctance, as Chamberlain undoubtedly knows. They cannot charge you a monthly fee to open and close your garage using the remote that came with the garage opener you bought, and their attempt to do so to use home automation you bought is no different.

Contact your State Attorney General, your local Better Business Bureau, and any other consumer protection organization available to you to complain about this infringement on full use of your property. Hopefully enough noise will remedy the problem.

Michael :Hope you patient man because they don't do anything very fast at Chamberlian. Announced a Hub for Siri apple home kit in Jan to be out April and when did it finally come out End of August.
Alexa intigration may be in 2019 if we lucky.
