One of my garage doors opens by itself during all times of the day.
Same issue. Three doors, three openers, three controls. (Liftmaster 3950 Jackshaft 3950-MYQ-KIT) The first door randomly closed while I was in my shop and I re-opened it dismissing the peculiarity of it. The next day I came down to a shop with all three doors wide open! Nothing like free advertisement for free stuff. Looking at the history of the doors, they spent the entire evening, thru the wee hours of the morning opening and closing. This IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. The troubleshooting given on this site is less than stellar. I have no neighbors, the doors were programmed separately and worked for several months. A short in the control wiring is highly unlikely as there are three. What is the problem? What is the fix?
My son had a similar problem and struggled with it for months. A coworker asked if he had two openers and if the wired control pads were positioned right next to each other. They were so he suggested moving them at least 10 inches apart. My son moved one on the other side of the entry door into his home and the problem seems to be corrected. (It has been over a month with no phantom openings). We hope this helps someone else fix their problem more quickly.
Liftmaster knows there is a major problem with MyQ, and always says we will have a technician contact you. So far, they have not addressed the issue. In fact, they have not even acknowledged there is a problem. I disconnected mine last year because of the random opening and closing. It had worked well for a couple of years, then started to do it's own thing. The default should be closing the door, not opening it. I will not reconnect it as I value what's in my garage more than my ability to monitor it on my phone. My advice, "Don't use MyQ!"
