Just bought new home w/ MyQ - learned there's a monthly fee - seriously? Would appreciate best alternatives to connect to smartthings, etc. so I can control this thing - otherwise it's junk.

Trust me you will  be more angry when you get someone from the company on here justifying it and so forth with nonsense.

BTW You cannot automate it to open a door either, just close it and perhaps ask if its open or closed etc lol.

I can do more with my vacuum cleaner app (without a fee)

You can automate it using HomeKit or IFTTT

There is no monthly fee unless you’re using IFTTT. google and Apple users have no fees.

There’s no fee to use to the native App, and it works great.
The Google / Apple / IFTTT integrations are still a bit weak and cost $10.00/year - may want to hold off on that until there’s some movement by the company.

There is no fee for google and Apple I’m not paying one and have HomeKit up and running. IFTTT is a charge of $10/year as IFTTT is charging Chamberlain for its integration

Not sure where you're getting your info from Michael, but there is a fee for Google Assistant integration (you're correct, not HomeKit though). You also cannot automate opening with IFTTT or Google Assistant.

Yeah any use of IFTTT will include that fee but using google I meant using the app from the play store.

And Apple HomeKit has no fee or even if using homebridge open source which saves you from buying into IFTTT or the HomeKit bridge if you don’t already have it.
