My garage door is opening and closing on its own

I was so exited my husband surprised me with this new myq opener, only to have my bubbled burst the same day we got it. I was in my room which is right above the garage when the garage opened my husband was asleep and no one else has the code. Not only that but my smartphone is not compatible really, it's a 4.0 and I'm not going to buy a new phone too when this one work fine.

So lastly on memorial day we were sitting in the garage and the door was open and came down. You have to be kidding me I am so disappointed with this product. We have only had this opener 2 weeks and I'm afraid to leave home because the door might open again. I have no way of knowing this since my phone is not compatible.

From what I have read this is an issue and if someone gets in my home I have a pit bull waiting on the other end but what about someone who doesn't! This issue needs to be corrected before something seriously happens. The solution from chamberlain is reset it well we shouldn't have to do that to begin with. I want my loud trustworthy Genie opener back I had it 6 years and not once was this an issue. The placed that installed is getting a call tomorrow and If it continues I will tell you what you can do with your opener!

If you’re looking for help and a suggestion is to factory reset it and you don’t want to then you’re not familiar with tech. It’s complicated technology and maybe there is a bug in the way it’s set up. Sometimes a factory reset can solve a lot of things. Also make sure you have a decent password on your wifi it could be a neighbour who saw the install and maybe saw or heard the wifi/chamberlain settings.

You can also access mychamberlain.com to control it so maybe try that on your 8 year old iPhone use safari instead of the app. The price of getting new tech is that other new tech maybe needed.

Anyways it could be faulty in which case in my experience chamberlain will replace it under warranty

I have be on this site quite a while now and never heard of this issue so it could be a one off

The garage door opener may have learned a neighbor's remote transmitter when the opener was installed and setup.  
The solution it to erase all remote transmitters from the garage door opener (press and hold the opener's Learn/Program button on the opener's motor unit for at least 10 seconds) and then teach all your remote transmitter back to the opener.
