Just installed MyQ Garage yesterday and it works as advertised. I am receiving alerts on iphone. I would like a indicator light to turn on automatically in specific rooms when door is open. Is this possible?

Howard.  Chamberlain has products that you connect to lights you can do this with or if you are moving toward more comprehensive home automation, There are a couple smart hubs that can accomplish this.  I use the Wink based system in part of my house and the Wink hub connects to the Chamberlin MyQ very well.  I believe the SmartThings hub has connectivity (but be sure to check that to confirm) Lutron currently does not have Chamberlain connectivity (I have a Lutron Smart Hub as well for the HomeKit compatibility and Siri integrations to lights. When the full HomeKit compatibility gets rolled out through Chamberlain Siri might be able to do that automatically as well.

For me, in the Wink system connects to the garage door because we also have an Amazon Alexa which makes it drop dead simple for voice control of lighting and other home automation that is linked - Siri works well too, but Apple really needs to come out with a listening ATV opposed to needing to push a button... - in Wink I set a "Robot" that turns on a set of lights to 50% when the garage door triggers. You can also use multiple robots to have them go off when the door closes...

I set them to 50% because if the lights are already on nothing would happen... so the 50% trigger allows for a visual change when the door opens even if the lights are on. Also know that when you set a trigger like that (off when close) each time it closes it will turn those lights off... Just something to be aware of...

Hope this helps.

Chamberlain makes MyQ switches, but they only work with the garage door opener, or MyQ app. While the two lights I need to turn on from outside work well for me, Chamberlain does not have any vacation timer function to their APP so it is a very basic control. I have two and am very happy as my wife is not into using an APP, and the key fob works very well for her. I am waiting to see what Chamberlain does with future MyQ APP, if not the VeraEdge Home Controller looks like the best choice as it can work without companies cloud, You can use your own port forwarding and never have to worry the service gets discontinued. Now I need to figure who makes the best Z-wave switches. Hope Chamberlain gets the vacation timer function into their APP soon, that's my first choice.

Howard - It sounds to me like you are looking for some type of garage door monitor that says that the door is open. Although we do have a garage door monitoe for our Chamberlain Security +2.0 garage door openers, we do not have one compatible to the MyQ Garage.
