Internet gateway says it's used by another account error 310

My first gateway lost communication so returned it to store for new one, have never been able to get it working and customer support has been no help. Last CS person says it was used unit they gave me but it was still in sealed plastic clam shell and was from a true value hardware store. I get an error 310 device ID on another account. Have tried uninstalling liftmaster and Chamberlain apps and did hard reset of gateway numerous times. This unit has never worked and I gave up on it till today when I installed some nest products so I gave it another try and still no luck. Sir to CS and he was no help and just did I was sold a used unit and have to buy another one.
