They clearly have less restrictive and less annoying lawyers and accountants.

For three reasons:

1) Their utter disregard for customer requests as it relates to solving this huge feature gap regarding the "security issue" of having Alexa or Google Home open your garage door.

2) Their utter disregard for customer sensitivity as it relates to charging additional fees to integrate with third party tools that help make up for some of the missing features such as the one listed above.

3) Their utter disregard for customers in general.  Okay, maybe #3 is somewhat emotional and personal in nature, but I believe it's the feeling of many of their high tech, high end customers as well.

Finally, there are terrific ways to beat Chamberlain's accountants and lawyers at their own game, using SmartThings and various unnamed device handlers.  Some of them even cost additional money, which those of us high tech, high end customers are happier to provide to a hard-working third party developer than a company that baits-and-switches, claiming integration, but failing to indicate or changing their policies to create additional revenue after the sale.

But these are just my opinions.  Feel free to follow or ignore as you'd like!

Good Luck to you!

That's awesome. I'm ordering one and I'm in the UK. Binning my MyQ as it's never closed my door in 8 months! Thanks for finding a decent alternative.

Then that's the first customer friendly action - or inaction - I've seen from your company in over 3 years.  So woohoo, let's all celebrate such inclusivity.

But it is hard to dispute facts: Chamberlain is tone deaf to basic enhancement requests that have been on the books for years - functions that competitors provide without question OR COST.  Chamberlain is tone deaf to the vociferous objections to the nickel-dime money grab they've established for basic third party integration, an industry standard.  So you're willing to put up with some negativity in exchange.  Well there's a good reason to purchase your company's products.

This one also works with Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT, and can even tell which car you're driving and open the correct door as you come home. It looks like it is about the same price as Nexx, but can work with up to 3 doors. Nexx only does 1 door.

I'm going to try one of these.
