How can I open my port partially with a smartphone and internet gateway? (it works fine with the remote buttons)

I have a Chamberlain port, a 2 channel remote device and an IPhone with the MyQ Liftmaster Application. I programmed the second button on the remote device to open the port partially. That works fine. But I read somewhere this function (open partially) could be initiated via MyQ and the app. I did not managed to have this feature started. Opening and closing with my phone works fine. I get an alert if the garage door is in open position after a certain time. I can close and open the door remotely wi th one channel. I can open partially and close completely the door wit the second channel. Could anybody provide me the way how to open the door partially using the app or web? Thanks.

Hi Guy,

You can open the garage door partially with the hand held remote but for the MyQ app it will show that it is fully open but will not send an alert. However, you are able to close the door from the MyQ app and then it will show closed and as well provide an alert. For using the MyQ app with partial open vice versa it is only able to open fully or close fully. It doesn’t have the capability as the hand held remote does for its feature. Does this answer your question?

Yes. As you see in this screenshot, the MyQ app is showing the partially open status. I initiated this with the hand held remote, second channel. I can close the door fully or open it fully with the app MyQ.  As the technology  and programming is inside the port itself (not in the handheld remote) and I have read somewhere you can use partially opening by MyQ, I wonder if the non functioning of this feater is due to Liftmaster or Chamberlain difference in the applications IOS.  Or do I need to reinstall the IOS App ?

Hi Guy,

A couple of things. MyQ works in absolutes; either the door is fully open, or you can set it for being fully closed. Our LiftMaster and Chamberlain apps work the same way so if you have either they should both work accordingly. For a partial open as seen, I would suggest perhaps pushing the wall control button to reset the status so that the icon is showing either fully open or fully closed.

If that does not work, uninstalling and reinstalling the app may be necessary. Hope this helps!

Thank you. I rest my case. I am convinced that I have read somewhere the MyQ app could deal with the half open command as like the hand held device can do. This was the major reason I bought the gateway. I am sorry I did not noted where I have steen this description of that feature. But if I understand what you are explaining, this feature does not exist. (And based on what I read in this support group, I have to give up all hope in expecting such a feature being built by chamberlain. Kind regards, a slightly disappointed customer, Guy.
