homekit pairing

My Experience installing Homekit Bridge with existing MyQ Garage.  Starting with the directions being just a bit too brief I spent enough hours installing the HomeKit MyQ HomeBridge that to tell you would be embarrassing.  But I learned a lot!

1. Do not unconfigure MyQ Garage when starting the process
2. Do not shortcut the pairing of the phone to the Homebridge by going into your phones settings -> Wifi -> set up new device.
3. If possible place all items on a bench next to each other and plug them in (not the garage door opener) then walk through the pairing process.
4. USING THE MYQ APP Keep the phone about an inch from the device you are trying to add and let the Airplay process and wifi process run to completion.  This makes it easy to use the camera to capture the homekit code.
5. Follow the instructions in the MyQ app to pair to the door opener.  You will be pressing buttons on both the MyQ Bridge MyQ Garage
6. Once the Homebridge appears in the HomeKit app  and all pairing is complete you will be able to open and close the garage door with everything sitting on your work bench in the garage.
7. Mount the MyQ Home Bridge and the MyQ Garage back where it was and you should be off and running.

THE BIGGEST TIME WASTER was having my phone to far from the devices during the pairing process.  An inch worked every time.

Good instructions. If followed, the setup process is very straightforward. One thing I will add is that the account you are signed in with on the phone used to setup the HomeBridge must be the same account that is used on the iPad or Apple TV v4...if you are using Family Sharing, you have to use the same account. Using another account will produce a "cannot add device" error when trying to add the Home Bridge.

I am at my wit's end...I had the Homebridge connected and Siri working....but no matter what I do I cant get it back after I unplugged it to move it to a different location...tried removing the bridge from account....reinstalling app...logging out of app....resetting hub constantly..ensuring removal from Home....no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the hub onto my WIFI which is needed to get it into Homekit of course.....I've made sure it's only 2.4ghz...

can someone help with this??

if this device is this flaky, there's no way ANYONE can rely on this for their garage doors!
