Looking for when the Homekt bridge will be available for Canada. Hoping for lots of posts to get Chamberlains attention as they have not answered any other Canadians who asked

I was just thinking, why do they constantly avoid this question. Just tell me that I can never order it from the website and I’ll have to hope that someday they ship it to my local Home Depot. Just tell me!

Aaron, I'm trying to figure out an option that will work for you and other Canadian customers. I hope to have an answer tomorrow. If the answer is "no," I promise to let you know that as well. Lauren

Everyone, I don't have a "yes" or "no" answer for you yet. Hope to have this information tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, but I need a bit more time. Lauren

Thanks Lauren, I’m assuming the answer is eventually yes due the other community manager post a few days ago which said “we’re announcing the MyQ Home Bridge to the rest of the world with a press release”. Canada has got to be included in that rest of the world statement? :)
That and I’m getting links to buy it in the app and emails to buy......just add Canada shipping ;)

Thanks

Aaron, you're a mind reader - "eventually" is the key word. The plan is to have a system in place for shipments to Canada by the end of September. Quite a few details to figure out to make it happen, but that's the plan. Sorry I can't tell you availability will happen sooner. I promise to keep you posted on the very first day you can place orders. Lauren

Well that sounds good to me. Thanks for getting back. Now your last mission is to make sure they give the discount to us too once it happens! Thanks Lauren

Funny too originally the HomeKit promise was a firmware update. I read up back then that Apple had made hardware requirement changes. That is why a firmware upgrade couldn’t be done.

Fast forward to earlier this year and we hear about the bridge (lots of companies forced by Apple to do this if they wanted HomeKit support.

Fast forward to now and Apple for iOS 11 has dropped all requiments for hardware. It’s now just the app that needs to make sure it supports the correct encryption protocols as a stay at home iPad or AppleTV can act as the hub now, sadly companies like Chamberlain and Belkin has already spent a ton of money in R&D to bring their bridges to market.

https://github.com/nfarina/homebridge I run it in a docker container under unraid. Only plugin that worked for me is homebridge-chamberlain to save you some grief

Awesome I’m running unraid as well I’m going to look into this. For devices I’d like running are: MYQ garage door opener, some wemo light switches, nest thermostat and protects and a set of hue light bulbs

If I can get that docker running all that it will save me hundreds and hundreds of dollars by not having to buy a bunch of bridges, and replacing the nest gear

Yup works like a charm. I even get Apple Watch notifications when my door opens and closes. Search the unraid forums. There is a thread discussing set up. My unraid handle is Kryspy.

Folks, I haven't forgotten about you. Still trying to get definitive info on shipping to Canada. I'm sure it's going to happen, just taking more time than any of us would like. I'll keep everyone updated. Lauren

Should be free since some of us have it working with free one source software which could be integrated into a firmware upgrade. Greedy and lazy.

Heck, it was promised as a firmware upgrade. This absolutely should be free for any current owners that request the bridge.

Well no need to buy the Chamberlain Homekit bridge.....just saved myself pretty much $75.00CAD...many thanks @Christopher I have my MyQ working on Homebridge as well as my nest and Wemo devices. All not Homekit compatible without a purchased bridge.....now saving me close to $300-400 not having to buy homekit bridges for all my different home automation products.

I am in Canada and also was not able to order from the website. If you call Chamberlain directly they will place the order and ship it to you direct to Canada. It cost me $111 CAD right to my door in the GTA via UPS.
