Homekit Bridge and Liftmaster Gate

Hi I have the new MyQ bridge with homekit and the transfer from the old wired bridge went fine. Goth my garage door and my gate are in the app under the new gateway and work fine. However, homekit only sees the garage as an accessory, nothing for the gate. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi thanks. I tried these; no change. I guess is there an official word on whether or not HomeKit will see a gate even if the myq app does? On liftmasters site there’s an asterisk about Siri and Gates. So the question is should it see a gate device?

Thank you.

I just purchased the Home Bridge yesterday in hopes of being able to use it with my Liftmaster Gate because it doesn't work with my Wink Hub. Is this truly not going to be supported? It's purely a software issue because the tech to identify open and closed on MyQ gates seems to be fully functional and if you have HomeKit certification, you have the MFi chips in the hubs. Why can't we use the gates in either HomeKit or in Wink? It's pretty frustrating.

Why is this not compatible with the gates?  I spent hours trying to fix this on the phone with support and they all told me it was compatible with gates.  I called in before I bought the product to confirm that I would be able to use voice control with the gate and they assured me that it would be no problem.  How long will it take to get a solution to the gate issue?

I'd like a solution to this problem as well. I was under the impression the Homekit Bridge would operate a gate with the Apple Home app.

Daniel Sax & Wilson, I don't have any new information on when gates will be supported by the Home Bridge device. I'll report back as soon as I have anything. Lauren

Please add me to the list. I just installed a liftmaster gate opener and it works with myQ app but not HomeKit. My garage door works with HomeKit. I was hoping to create some automation to turn on a driveway light when the gate opens.

I also purchased the Chamberlain HomeBridge right when it came out and was specifically told by sales and support that Gate control would be supported at time of purchase and the 1 1/2 hours I spent on the phone trying to get it to work. I never received a follow up that was promised and eventually tried the LiftMaster version to see if that would work on my own to no avail as I could never get a clear answer from phone support

Having just stumbled upon this thread, I too would like to be added to any resolution. Especially as my gate like many others here already has MyQ and should easily be able to be added as originally promised.

Please add me, too. When is this going to happen? I see many months have passed without any answer. I sense the flock is being led around. This is purely a software issue that should be resolvable. I sense this is not going to happen in my lifetime.

If my hunch is correct, can you please give an alternative method, i.e., raspberry pi instructions, some other bridge or something else? I have setup a Raspberry Pi to connect many other non-homekit items to homekit and if instructed how, I could add my gate.

Thanks, from a customer with a lot of your products.

Ok can someone from chamberlain explain the difference between the Liftmaster 819LMB
https://www.liftmaster.com/for-homes/accessories/myq-accessories/model-819lmb
"Compatibility-Liftmaster MyQ-enabled gate operators. Liftmaster and chamberlain my-q enabled garage door openers"

and the Chamberlain MYQ-G0303-SP
https://www.chamberlain.com/smartphone-control-products/smartphone-connectivity/myq-home-bridge
"Chamberlain and LiftMaster MyQ-enabled garage door openers"

Are these not the same units? If so, why does one support both and the other only supports one?

Thank you,

JC, great question! So, the 819LMB/MyQ-G0303-SP in many ways is a wireless 828LM/CIGBU with the added hardware for the Homekit support. While the Homekit will not work with the Gate, you can still use the 819LM/MyQG0303-SP to connect a MyQ Compatible Gate with MyQ same as you would with the 828LM/CIGBU. Hope that helps! Thanks, Chuck

Thanks for the update. So they are essentially the same device, but the issue really is that HomeKit won't see the gate right now; a HomeKit issue?

MyQ Home Bridge is compatible with Liftmaster Gates. At least the one I have, which is the RSL12U works with MyQ Home Bridge. Original it was setup through the the Liftmaster Internet Gateway and transferred without effort to the MyQ Home Bridge. I can see and operate the gate from the app and I can see and operate the gate from my browser at mychamerlain.com. I no longer have the Internet Gateway hooked up or plugged in. The disappointing part is all my Liftmaster switches and my Chamberlain MyQ Garage Hub are visible in homekit and the gate is not. This should not be too hard to add.

Please, just tell me honestly, is the gate going to be added to homekit and when? I just need to know if I need to go another direction or wait. My goal is to come home and my gate and house open up automatically. Right now my house works fine, but the gate still has to be opened by remote (whether opener or phone app).

Hello, I too was very hopeful that homekit would allow Siri to open the gate only to find out that it's not supported.  Does Liftmaster plan on developing this bridge to open the gate as well?   I probably would have held off, if I knew then what I know now.    Please supply a timeline that this bridge will control the gate with Siri.

Hi,  I am in the same boat here.  When is the gate control going to show up in the Homekit app?  I bought this based on the Siri integration.

I share in Steve's frustration. I have a MyQ-compatible garage and gate and both worked fine using the wired Internet Gateway. I upgraded to the MyQ Home Bridge specifically to add HomeKit functionality to our LiftMaster setup. The garage door added via HomeKit immediately, but the gate would timeout during the learning/adding step. It would still add into the LiftMaster MyQ app, but after quite a while of troubleshooting and getting nowhere, I began searching online and found this thread.

I'm not sure what about the gates makes them different from garage doors from a software perspective, other than just coding in support for them to appear in the Home app. I really hope this gets fixed, since having to still go back to the app in order to open one device means I'll practically never use the HomeKit functionality (though given that this has been on Chamberlain/LiftMaster's radar since back in October, I'm not holding my breath, sadly).

The most frustrating part of this whole process is in 9 months there has been no progress and I own two separate smart hubs from Liftmaster, which I paid for because they wouldn't honor some weird free upgrade policy. The newest one can open my garage door with homekit, but I can't open the gate at all. The older device requires hardwiring and can't get close enough without rewiring my home to connect and be able to open the gate through their own native app or Wink. Kind of silly and horrible. I think I'll look for a 3rd party product that can open both and operates on Wifi. Any ideas or success anyone else has had? My next garage door controller will definitely not be a Liftmaster or Chamberlain if I can help it.

I gotta say, this is pathetic. You've known for 9 months already that it doesn't work with gates and yet NOBODY seems to know this except the people on this thread. The people answering your support lines don't know! They just tell me to call Apple because "everything seems fine on our end."

FIX THIS. How hard can it be? I'm serious. Entire apps are written in less time!

Where is the gate compatibility with HomeKit? This is ridiculous. Is this ever going to happen? Spent 2 days in the hot sun trying to get it working, including deleting my entire home in HomeKit and starting over, pulling out my hair. Can you at least get someone to respond on here that knows anything about what's going on?
