Homekit

Why were we not informed by email about the availability of the homekit bridge? Let alone the fact that you were giving them away with the survey completion.... I have been a member in these forums for the past two years and have been told multiple times about the homekit compatibility only requiring a firmware update, then to learn that we would require a bridge for compatibility. This whole process has been a run around from the day I purchased this product and I am extremely disappointed with the customer service surrounding the release of homekit compatibility.

If that were truly the case it would be priced at $0 dollars since it was promised to be a free upgrade by the Chamberlain team.

Hi Jonathan, given the changing tech space, adjustments were needed to move forward with this integration and exceed security standards.  Chuck

The changing tech space is not an excuse to break promises made to your customers. If Chamberlain had not posted on social media that it was coming via a free firmware upgrade then I would not have ordered the my q unit.

I have been watching these posts for over a year but because I never registered to add "me too" I was left off a promotion put in place to appease some of the unhappy customers. Just to be clear, if the devices had both existed at the time I ordered mine, the way it is explained now, I would have gladly purchased both devices. it is not about the money but a company being deceptive.

The first screen shot below is what I read that gave me the confidence to order the product in 2016: https://myqcommunity.chamberlain.com/chamberlainmyq/topics/homekit-promises

As an 'active' MyQ owner and user since 11/2015, and having a registered device associated to my e-mail, I too would have envisioned that this announcement would have been e-mailed to us loyal customers and early adopters.  Instead, a large number of us came to find out about this HomeKit announcement via an online 'deal' website or other non-Chamberlain outlet advertising free HomeKit integration with a new device....

There's an entire thread in this forum you can find entertainment in.  Prepare yourself ;)

I am a forum member and I did receive a notice regarding a new bridge, however, I never received it. It has been well over a month since I completed the request form.

Not even possible to have filled out the form over a month ago. The offer didn't even start until 10/2.

So it was active less than 2 weeks. Went to my spam folder and I didn't see it until the day after the deadline. And now Chambelain wants me to buy it.

Who are you to decide how long a company's promotion should run? You missed the offer, move on.

Thanks for the supportive community response.  You see it as being about the offer.  Others see a continual ignorance of brand loyalty, community evangelism, and forward thinking product evolution.  I decide to ignore your abrasive replies.

I have been a member and discovered this a day too late, as the email I received landed in the Spam folder.  Help!  I originally bought MyQ based on current, er, future Homekit integration.  Please help me to want to continue to use Chamberlain technology by letting me get into this promotion.

Talatta, I'm so sorry you missed the MyQ Community special offer. While that offer has expired, you can still take advantage of the special introductory price for the MyQ Home Bridge: https://goo.gl/Aux3pj. Lauren

Michael, I'm so sorry you missed the email. I just confirmed an email was sent to the address associated with your MyQ Community account. If you have a better address, can you DM it to me via Twitter or send a private message via Facebook? I want to update your record. Lauren

I don't use Twitter or Facebook. The email works ... I got the notification of this post via that very email. No email was received in the account, in the SPAM folder nor was there any indication of a failed email having hit my account. Again ... there was some break down but apparently not on my email's end.

$49.99 for something that we've all anticipated for a couple of years to be a software upgrade?  If that's my route when everyone else here gets it for $0, I will take my money and future home automation elsewhere.  I will be sorry I spent on Chamberlain as well and honestly won't be able to speak well of Chamberlain to other home automation enthusiasts.

This is the problem. The offer of the free unit was an excellent option to at least attempt to make up for all the failed promises to a very loyal customer base. However, the oh, the offer is only good for a small window that you may or may not be aware of ... speaks volumes for what can be expected as far as “future offers”. Better odds playing your state lottery

Boohoo. When Apple requires such stingy requirements to connect to their platform, what else do you expect? Reason why SmartThings stays far away from it. Requiring special hardware is why Homekit has failed, and Alexa/Google have boomed. You didn't need the email for the offer, just the generic link that was posted on most tech websites. BTW, don't read Black Friday ads coming up next month... I heard the deals are only offered to the first 2 people in line. And grocery store ads too, they are only good till this Sunday.

I'll take HomeKit's "stingy requirements" that result in higher security standards over all the others. Perhaps HomeKit's superior security to other platforms is why Chamberlain allows HK to open the garage door, but not Google Home and IFTTT. The latter two aren't too useful without the ability to open the door.
