Home Kit

I bought a MYQ-G0201P at Home Depot after being served with ads saying that I can use the MyQ with HomeKit. After installing the device I have opened Home on my iPhone and cannot find a scannable HomeKit code anywhere.
I want to be able to use the device with Siri and otherwise wouldn’t have purchased it.

If it’s an older model it won’t support HomeKit out of the box. It needs a new bridge which can be purchased. Maybe someone from chamberlain can confirm the official out of the box HomeKit model number. So if it’s not then you may want to return it and find the newer model

Thanks Michael,
That’s an interesting point however why would Chamberlain advertise a product functionality and keep older EOL merchandise on the shelves at a National big box retail set like Home Depot. I can go and deal with a return but it is a headache as I just don’t have the time. Unless I am not setting it up correctly they should have cleared the stores of older units long before launching ads about Homekit support.

That’s up to the stores and their distributors not Chamberlain.

If the model you have supports HomeKit out of the box expect a card or something with a 5 or 6 digital code with a box around it. You then open the home app and click the + then add assessory scan the code with the camera that opens and it should add.

They are also advertising it because the bridge they are selling adds HomeKit to the older models. There is a post here somewhere on this forum with HomeKit in the title and I believe a link to submit the receipt should you buy a bridge to get refunded the amount.

Corey, your MyQ Garage retrofit product requires the MyQ Home Bridge for HomeKit compatibility. This is true of all MyQ products. Let me know if your have any additional questions. Lauren

I was not told that any additional products were required for HomeKit to work. That’s not fair. Do you reccomend returning to Home Depot or can I do it through Chamberlain?

Corey, if you want to learn a bit more about the MyQ HomeBridge, take a look here: https://goo.gl/KhfBFZ. If you still want to return the product, that's done through the retailer where it was purchased. Lauren
