Home kit joke

I have been waiting for home kit integrations and finally received in the mail that I can buy a device to integrate for home kit for $50?!  I am at a loss for words on why I bought something that says home kit on it, to only be told I need to buy something more to make it home kit.  I had to come on here and vent after receiving this notification as of last night, especially since my device has been giving me issues as of lately, and will be posting another comment for help.  But at this time, unsure if I will get it.

Michael, thank you for your feedback. We've priced MyQ Home Bridge based on the resources required for the integration process as well as the product's market value. Chuck

Something happened with MyQ. Some door openers have boxes that say MyQ but if they won’t also say wifi then you need to buy the internet gateway to use MyQ.

This isn’t new for chamberlain.

Same issue here. But there is a way when there is a will. Google "Homebridge linux" and learn ;-)

Michael,  You are correct that Chamberlain falsely advertised HomeKit compatibility on their MyQ Garage units, and have been doing so for a few years.  They also falsely advertised that HomeKit would be a free upgrade either via software or hardware.  They finally stopped advertising that and instead sell an additional piece of hardware for $70 to provide this compatibility, although they are currently offering it at $50.  There are already more then a few people who have started the discussion of a Class Action Lawsuit against Chamberlain, which will be an easy win because of all the false advertising they have done in regards to this.  I would keep your eyes open for this lawsuit so you can join in.

This is a shame, because they make darn good garage door openers, and they even make the Liftmaster and Craftsman lines, so they kind of have a monopoly in this market.  The problem is that it now appears they have no morals and no concerns for their customers.  In the past two weeks, I have already recommended another brand opener to one friend and three of my coworkers based on Chamberlain's new lack of principles.  I have been in Computer Networking for over 20 years and lots of people come to me and trust me for recommendations.

I just found out that they make the device too. When I bought my 9000wf I was told it would work with homebridge by just using a software update. I found out finally in 2017 they didn’t send anything to registered users of the device that the homebridge was available free of charge. I’m really unhappy that they did this. I’ve been waiting for 2 years o my to find out they gave away free ones a year ago. Chamberlain needs to make it right!!
