It will be nice if they add a hold open feature for the electric gate. I would like to keep my gate open during the day and close it at night.

When do you think you can get back to us? I just installed 2 gates but I can't schedule it to open at certain time I want.

I would like to have the gate close automatically after a selected time from opening (as it can by using the pot on the circuit board), but allow the app to over-ride the time-to-close function and leave the gate open whenever I choose (e.g., if I'm expecting many guests to arrive). It would seem that the app could be used to provide this functionality by ignoring the time-to-close function on the circuit board (set it to remain open) and providing the time-to-close function in the app. An over-ride could be provided in the app to allow the user to leave the gate open when desired.

If the logic of the control board permits or if logic can be added, it might be possible even to add such functionality using conventional remotes, with a specific sequence of signals from the remote (e.g., "press three times, pause five seconds, press three more times" or some such sequence) to trigger the "leave gate open" function.

As of now, I have to open the gate and hit the “reset” button on the main controller box to let it open

I agree - and this is probably the use case for a lot of people

Requirements oversight to not be able to keep the gate open

My Liftmaster gate opener has a massive circuit board in it and there is not a 'hold gate open' option. That is hard to believe. Please fix it.

Really ....super annoying oversight for a manufacturer that wants to be seen as top of the line.

Just had a double-arm Liftmaster gate opener installed yesterday.  Works great.  I was a bit surprised that a manual 'hold gate open' at the controller was required given the app.  I too want to have the gate open during the day and close it at night...most but not all days.  Custom Gate Automation of Boise (an exclusive LiftMaster installer) said they get this request frequently and wonder why the system hasn't been upgraded.  Will this feature be added to the MyQ app anytime soon?
The only option at this point is to install a timer which would keep the keep the gate open during manually set times within the controller unit...we agreed this is not a good option.

Same here and I just installed but now I need to find the solutions so the deliver or mail man can come in and deliver to our door. What should we do?

After further consideration I realized this 'hold gate open' modification is unlikely to be implemented anytime soon by Liftmaster.  So the workaround is open the gate and push the controller reset to disable the timer-to-close.  Then cover the obstruction avoidance reflector protecting the driveway with a not-obvious ABS pipe cap to enable the photoelectric safety forcing the gate always open.  Now the gate won't close even when driving over the driveway exit loop or pressing the remote.  Blocking safeties is generally not a great idea but I don't see any downside risk given a forced obstruction condition in the open position...unless someone is tampering with the system in which case I will be notified via the motion detection camera.  This is a manual method but it works reliably and safely to keep the gate always open when desired.

I hope they will allow the open feature soon. I am stuck now.

I talked with the LiftMaster gate installer again.  He offered to run an 18-2 cable 200' from the gate controller to the house and install a toggle switch that would allow the gate to stay open when desired.  I'll pull the cable so I don't have to walk out there this winter.  Not as elegant as an always-open toggle in the app but acceptable for me.

Wow. You got to be kidding me. But I might end up doing the same. SERIOUS design flaw.

You'd think they'd have learned from 40 years of garage door opener experience.

There is another option. You can connect a wifi relay to the fire dept terminals. When activated, it will open the gate and hold it open.

There is one other option. You can connect a wifi relay (such as modified Sonoff device) to the gate controller. It costs only $5. Connect the wifi relay to the fire dept terminals on the gate controller and you will be able to use an app on the phone to hold gate open/close and also use the timer function on the app. to open the gate at a certain time and close.
