MyQ Hub and Senser Help with Liftmaster Professional

I purchased the kit for my Chamberlain Liftmaster professional.

Actions taken:
1.  Connected Hub to wifi with no problem.
2.  Paired the senser with the Hub.
3.  Mounted the Hub about 5 FT to the rear of the motor on the ceiling.

Here is where the problem occurs.

The next step wants to learn my Garage door signal.  I clicke the purple learning button on the garage motor and click pair in the app.  The yellow learning light goes out after 30 secs and the App gives and error that it can't connect.

I also tried using the garage remote that I have in my car.   I click pair in the app and I press the open button and after about 1 min the app will confirm that it learned the signal.   However when I click open/close in the app nothing is happening.

I have reset the hub to factory setting many times and continue to repeat with no sucess.

How do I get this to work with a Chamberlain Liftmaster Professional Garage Door opener..

Make sure you selected the proper colored button for the learning process.

You should not mount until paired. Try relocating the hub further, closer, or in front of the motor.

Allow the light on your hub to flash before engaging the learn button.

Should mention that distance of hub to garage motor is most likely the culprit. Material and construction often cause problems with signal blasting.

The color is purple and I have moved the hub ti like 4 different places.  5 ft in front, behind and on each side.  I have even held it in my hand under it about 4 ft.

I have a Liftmaster garage door opener also with an orange learn button.  It wouldn't pair and I tried several times.  Using an Android smartphone with Chamberlain myQ app loaded I also tried hitting the red button in the app several times with no luck.  Finally, I decided to try the other colors listed under "Select Color" one at a time: yellow(no luck), purple(no luck), and finally green - it paired.  Woohoo!  Was ready to package system back up and return to Home Depot but don't have to now.

Obviously the software people working at/for Chamberlain need to update their instructions.
