Has anyone had trouble with their system working sporadically? It is hooked up correctly, green light, good to go, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I was told last week that my hub was old and I should get a new one??? Really??? They told me they could see that it was connected but couldn't tell me why it doesn't work all the time? Does anyone else have this problem?  Should I buy a new one or buy something else that will last longer?

I have a Hitron Modem and a Airport Extreme Router.  The hub is in the garage beside the opener on the ceiling.

I have exactly the same problem. I cannot open the door using the application all the time, sometimes it is not working, more times it is not working then working.

are you talking about the MyQ device I have?

The problem is that it works sometimes like when I leave to work in the morning I can shut it, but when I come home at night it doesn't work.
We try both my husbands and my iphone.

I have seen this type of issue when I am just outside of my house, perhaps on driveway.  My Smartphone detects my wife and connects but it is less than optimal signal, but the smartphone says I am on my wifi.  Opening the app and selecting door (to open/close) does not work.  My resolution a)  go into house/get closer and operate door from app, or b) tap to turn off wifi and use carrier signal.  I wait about 5 or 10 seconds, then tap door within app and it works fine.

For me it is always working when I get home and open from the street, the problems are when I am in the house. This morning I switched off the WiFi on my phone to be on the career signal but still it did not work.

mark and M David,  I don't know why this doesn't work on either my wifi or my carrier.   It is so unreliable went to the gym this morning, couldn't even shut the door,  had to get out and push the button manually.    Frustrated by this and if I have to switch from wifi to my carrier every time I use this it is useless to me.   I will see if the customer support agent has any ideas and if I get it to work consistently I will let you know!

This is a terrible product.   I can shut the door when I leave my house.  But upon returning it will NOT open.   No one seems to have an answer for this even the Official Rep cannot tell me why this is happening.  This is suppose to work with wifi and also on the internet.  It should work if  I am away from my residence if I wanted to open the door for someone.  WHY is this happening?

Any updates on how to resolve this issue?  Mine worked well for over 1 year and now all of a sudden we get errors on our phones that the MyQ is not connected to WiFi.  We know the wide WiFi is working by running it on our phones etc.  Oddly, the Home Link in my SUV will sometimes work when I see the no WiFi error and sometimes it will not.  When the MYQ works on my phone everything works.

Nothing has been resolved for me yet Gary.   Unfortunately I have not arrived home in time to contact My Q for assistance.  This system is nothing like my Ecobee 4 for my thermostat which i can change from across town.  I have NO IDEA and neither does My Q on why this is not working.  They want me to contact them and completely go through the whole system restarting from the beginning which I have done multiple times and still it does not work, well it works but sporadically.  Never when I come home from work,  but if I leave in the morning it works.   I wish someone would be honest with me and tell me what is going on with this system,  seems it is not just me that has this problem.

I have this issue too. Most of the time in the morning I can open / close from the app just fine, but in the evening when I tap to Open, i just see the loading daisy wheel, and then eventually it returns a nondescript error dialog. I believe it is not a wifi signal problem, as when I switch to carrier, it still does not work (when it didn’t work the firts time), and when I open and close it manually, the status on the app changes accordingly within a few seconds.

I am using an iPhone X, i believe I have the 821lm MyQ. My wife, using an iPhone 6plus, reports no such issues opening and closing.

Vincent, we suggest seeing if you can get better results accessing the website (mychamberlain.com/) from your phone instead of using the MyQ app. In addition, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, especially if using the website on your phone is more effective. I think there's a typo in the link - change to mychamberlain.com and log in (and it's not mychamberlain.com/myliftmaster.com, it is either mychamberlain.com OR myliftmaster.com - was confused for a few minutes).  Okay I will try that - I also deleted and reinstalled the app to see if that will work better.

Hi Vincent I am using an iPhone 6 and mine opens the same,  when I leave I can shut it but when I come home I cannot.

Okay I tried again today.  In the morning, it opened and closed via the app fine.  However, it did not work for me again this evening, and it also did not work for my wife.  I also tried deleting and reinstalling the MyQ app, and logging onto mychamberlain.com in Safari, and neither of those things worked either.

Last week, pretty much everyday the app worked fine in the morning and not in the evening, but the past 2-3 days this week everything has been working fine without making any changes. Even was able to open the garage with my watch last night, which was awesome.

Well just to let you know I can close my door everyday when I leave but cannot open it at all with my app.    So apparently the app is connected but does not work when I come home.   Vincent can you open your garage door when you are away from your home?

Hi Joan, 

Since your garage door is experiencing interference in opening at night, its likely that an LED light is interfering with the signal due to radio frequencies.

To resolve issues with LED light bulb interference:

  1. Unplug the LED bulbs.
  2. Test the remotes. Is there still an issue?
    • Yes, continue troubleshooting.
    • No, replace the LED lights with a different brand or a different type of bulb. 

These LED lights have been tested and we found that they did not interfere with our garage door openers:
60w (equivalent) - Phillips 462481
100w (equivalent) - GE LED17DADL9-HT2

Let us know if that helps resolve the issue or if you require further assistance. We are happy to provide further information as needed.

I don't think my issue is LED bulbs, as there is only one in the garage and it's usually off.  Anyway, I don't know about Joan, but for the past 3-4 weeks it has been working much more reliably now, with no changes from me.  So perhaps you MyQ guys fixed some problem on your end?  I hope it continues to work reliably.  Thanks!
