I tried but it wouldn't program.  I was able to get the garage door opener added without any problems.

I have a older non myq chamberlaine opener with a liftmaster 888lm control pad and it worked like a charm. Didn't even have to use the internet gateway.

Thanks.  When you added the 888LM to the app, did you select garage door opener or gate operator?

I selected garage door opener. I only added the home bridge. After that, I selected the "garage door opener" option during the setup and pressed the learn button on the control panel.

Awesome, that worked!!!  I would have never figured that out and Chamberlain Support was no help.  I guess HomeKit still doesn't recognize gates yet.

I am so frustrated with the app, the paper documentation and the lack of explanation about how to get the MyQ Garage & the MyQ Home Bridge to work together. Can anyone help me understand what does the app mean by adding a "Place".  Is this different than a "Device" and how does that relate to home kit. Can you help me with a link to a more in depth explanation?
Thanks in advance.
