Has anyone been able to get the new Homekit Bridge Working?

Per the directions the original bridge should transfer settings to the Homekit Bridge but i have had nothing but problems - keep getting error message about "No transferrable devices". Even tried to setup the Homekit as a new bridge and that does not work either. The original bridge is easy and takes 5 minutes to setup but this HOMEKIT bridge is nothing but a pain in the butt.

no.  it always dies at the HomeKit connection stage.  It's going back.   Terribly conceived and executed solution to two years of promises to the customers

I finally got it working after an hour of troubleshooting. You have to make sure your iPhone is on 2.4ghz wifi and not 5ghz. If you don't separate your network on each band(like most people) you might need to disable the 5ghz band during the home kit pairing. I know this sounds insane, but it works. I'm not sure if Apple or Chamberlain is to blame for this, but this should of been noticed before launch.

If your hub light is green and not yet paired to HomeKit you need to reset it by holding the gear button then restarting. You will get flashing blue.

The guide below is better than the manual included in the box.
http://support.chamberlain.com/articl...

I'm guessing Chamberlain wanted to rush and sell this piece of hardware before Apple no longer requires a separate piece of hardware for Home Kit integration as of iOS 11 which will be released the week of 9/12.

All you had to do was connect your phone to 2.4 ghz, you didn't need to shut off 5 ghz everywhere. That's as simple as connecting to the 2.4 ghz WiFi and putting in your password unless you disabled 2.4 ghz altogether but that's not likely since there are still so many 2.4 ghz only devices.

When this first came out you did. There has been a fix since it was first released.

I have 4 APs in my house, the 5ghz signal is strong. Also it is not recommended to split 2.4ghz and 5ghz into different SSIDs.

Yes, you fixed that one bug, but when a door disappeared from my account they had me remove both units from my account and re-add them. Well due to a 217 error I could not add the hub back to my account. After 3 hours of phone calls over a week, they gave me 2 options. Create a new account with a new email address, or give the QC engineer at least 2 weeks to get to my case. So I am abandoning this clunky product.

Hi CW,

We apologize that you're having issues with the MyQ Home Bridge, and we'd like to help.
Are you trying to set up the Home Bridge with a MyQ Garage or a MyQ-enabled garage door opener?

I have the same problem. After 2.5 hours, multiple resets, a network reconfiguration and a reboot of my Apple TV, I'm giving up and I've contacted support to find out how to return it. None of the HomeKit devices I have installed took this long.

One interesting thing I saw towards the end was that when my phone was trying to discover the devices, I saw TWO of them. I tried both, multiple times and still have no luck.

EXACT SAME thing here. I have a craftsman assurelink with the gateway which is MYQ compatible. I somehow got the garage door to work but cannot add the MyQ Home Bridge.

I agree that they need to, but I don't hold up much hope in that, which is why I'm returning it. They/we have waited too long for this solution and it fallls very short of expectations. I think the only way to get their attention to the issue for everyone that has a problem to just return it. I think that the only way to get through to this company is by their bottom line. Even if this is a drop in the bucket to the corporate bottom line, I'm sure they have metrics like returned volume at that should get someone's attention.

As far as QA goes, it is beyond that. I doubt that this company has any solid software development process.

Finally got it working after many hours of troublehooting. If you have issues with the initlial installation follow these steps:

** DO NOT UNPLUG Your ORIGINAL MY Q BRIDGE - even after the SETUP of HOMEBRIDGE **

** NOTICE: APPARENTLY BOTH BRIDGES must be ALWAYS ON for the HOMEKIT to WORK properly  - this is NOT clear in the instructions and my understanding was that the new BRIDGE REPLACED the OLD BRIDGE - similar to the PhilipsHUE home setup (new bridge replaced old bridge) ***

(1) Reset new HOME BRIDGE to factory default - hold down GEAR icon until BLUE dot blinks then HOLD DOWN #1 - you should see BLUE and ORANGE now. Also make sure nothing from MY Q is listed in APPLE HOME  - if so then remove the bridge listing so its a CLEAN SETUP.

FOLLOW these INSTRUCTIONS and SCREENSHOTS: http://support.chamberlain.com/articles/How_To/How-to-setup-Wi-Fi-and-transfer-existing-MyQ-devices-...

I had to search to find the above instructions which are much better that what is sent in the box.

Once again - you must have the OLD and NEW BRIDGE Powered ON for the setup to work - not really ideal to have 2 POWERED DEVICES for 1 GARAGE DOOR OPENER but thats how it works.

This is one of the most helpful posts THANK YOU SO MUCH! But I still cannot get my original MyQ device to reconnect.  I have wasted so much time on this, climbing around in my garage pushing buttons, etc.   It is not worth the time. I'll just push the regular button to open my garage.

I was able to get through setup without the old bridge. I just bought the 888lm control pad and the homekit bridge and they just worked. The 2.4 and 5ghz wifi thing was the only issue i had.

Looks like we're not the only ones having problems. https://www.slashgear.com/chamberlain...

"The MyQ installation is conceptually dead simple. All you have to do is plug it in and open the accompanying Chamberlain app. It finds the MyQ bridge, and offers to sync it with HomeKit. From there, you simply have to pair the actual opener with the bridge by pressing a button on the opener itself, and you’re up and running.

In my instance, things didn’t go so smoothly. The bridge would hang endlessly while trying to link to HomeKit, or simply time-out and give up. Chamberlain was incredibly responsive to my issue, but the fix is exhaustive. With 25-steps to remedy my problem, it was a dizzying loop of holding buttons down and powering things on and off. It wasn’t hard. It just wasn’t seamless. It seems my situation is unique – and Chamberlain was great throughout the process – so no real demerits there."

They should h give them demerits for it. 25 Steps!

If you have the Craftsman Assurelink, first remove the current garage door and place from the account.  For some reason, it was interfering with adding the garage door itself.  After that unplug the assurelink gateway and put in a drawer.

Then follow the instructions above for resetting the myq home bridge.

Works after that.

I just received new MyQ Home Bridge and experienced some problems connecting to MyQ Garage Door Controler wi-fi hub. First of all, there were no instructions how to connect both devices in the Quick Guide. However, I managed to connect Myq home bridge to Wifi (under Wi-fi settings in iPhone), HomeKit using Home app, paired with Myq wi-fi hub. I followed all instruction steps in the app and finally, could control my garage door using Chamberlain app only. Also during the adding a device the Chamberlain app didn't show me MyQ Home bridge under Discovered accessories, in fact, there was no such section as Discovered accessories. Later I found that iPhone's Home app always shows No response from the accessory. I still can open/close garage door in Chamberlain app but Siri says No response. But with every opening or closing, I receive a notification from the Home app about garage door status. How can I fix controlling with Siri or Home app? Thanks.

This is exactly the same issue I’m having with mine, with the no response but accurate status of the garage. Did you ever find a fix for it? The homebridge is basically useless without the functions of HomeKit and Siri.

Archie, thanks for the details. Given that there doesn't seem to be any issues by way of the MyQ app, and rather only in HomeKit, the best option is to contact Apple support. Here is a link to their product services and support page: https://apple.co/1ntKolI

I am having the exact same issue. HomeKit reports the garage door status but shows “no response” on the icon in the HomeKit app and Siri will not open or close the door. If anyone has a fix for this I would really appreciate it.

I had the same issue because I kept turning off the original MYQ WIFI HUB thinking that the HOMEBRIDGE would replace it after setup. Its crazy to run 2 hubs but it works.

(1) I deleted all settings on both hubs (factory defaults) and removed any reference in APPLE HOME (2) Re-setup the original MY Q HUB and tested that it was working via MYQ APP
(3) Setup the new MYQ HOMEBRIDGE HUB per the instruction link on their forum and transferred the settings from the ORIGINAL HUB to the new HOMEBRIDGE HUB.
(4) If I leave both HUBS powered on everything works correctly with the MYQ APP and HOMEKIT/SIRI - however if I turn off the original hub then APPLE HOME keeps showing the GARAGEDOOR as NO RESPONSE.

I will say that it took several attempts to get the HOMEBRIDGE to be discovered - I had to reset to factory defaults, close the MYQ APP and re-login to refresh the settings and then the HOMEBRIDGE will show-up.

Right now both home bridge and the hub are on. I did all the same steps, but new bridge didn't appear as discovered accessory in MyQ app, it showed only under bluetooth and wi-fi settings. However, I will again try resetting all devices to factory settings, remove/install app and login. Hopefully, Discovered Accessories will show up in the app and I could do everything like in the manual guide.

It should not be this hard to get the HOMEKIT to work but it is. I spent several hours and many resets to get it to work - once working it works great with SIRI and HOME.

I did find that you need to refresh the MYQ app for the BRIDGE to show up and be discovered - double-click your phones home button and find the MYQ APP then slide it up to close it. Now re-open the app and log back in to your account.

Also make sure both your hubs are only connecting to your 2.4G WIFI and NOT 5G.

Thanks for your advice ;) You know, I have lots of HomeKit devices like Ecobee, Lutron Caseta, Philips hue, Schlage, but all of them connected and worked smoothly right out of the box. But I waited more than 2 years to have Siri-controlled garage opener. Now Chamberlain has the Bridge and will do everything possible to make it work.

I was just boxing up my MyQ Home Bridge to return it when I got an email from a very very helpful customer service rep. I set my wifi to 2.4 ghz only, reset everything and started over. It works now and I am encouraged that Chamberlain reached out.

So here what I tried yesterday. First, did factory reset both bridge and hub, made sure my phone connected to 2.4GHZ wifi, proceeded with all steps to set them up. In the app still there was no section “Discovered accessories”. I repeated steps two times, loging out, reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone - nothing showed accessories.
Then I decided to change iPhones, before I used my iPhone 6s plus, then I took my wife’s iPhone seven. We use both the same apple id, so I thought it might work. And indeed the app showed new bridge under the discovered accessories. Then I added it to HomeKit, paired with the old hub after a few attempts. Everything seemed easy and simple like in the manual. However, I still can receive only Home app notifications (garage opened/closed) but can’t control it with homekit Home app or siri, only with MyQ Chamberlain app.
What interesting I noticed that when you open Home app and go to bridge settings below Include in Favorites under MANUFACTURER section there’s no MyQ Chamberlain app icon with OPEN button.
I checked other HomeKit bridges settings (Lutron, Philips Hue, Schlage Sense, Ecobee), all of them list MANUFACTURER and corresponding app icon.
Can anybody, who has new bridge working, check if you have Chamberlain app under MANUFACTURER in settings?
I’m really frustrated about failing to connect new bridge. And I can’t return it because I paid double price to buy it in US and ship it to Canada using third-party services.
Or maybe anyone has other solutions how to make a bridge work? Thank you.

Mine is the same as yours - no ICON or OPEN button.

Weird that you get HOME notifications.

What does the HOME - GARAGE DOOR icon show - OPEN, CLOSED, NO RESPONSE, etc..

I will say I did that process at least 5 times before it finally worked!

Upgrading my Phillips HUE Bridge to the new Phillips HUE HOME Bridge took less than 5 minutes and worked with no issues  - Chamberlain should call them on how to implement a new bridge.

Yesterday I did reset of my whole Home and re-added about 40 HomeKit devices (bridges and accessories) less than in 30 minutes. But I keep wasting hours to connect single MyQ Home Bridge. I sent a request to Chamberlain support but have no response for more than 2 days.

I posted complaints on several different places in this forum.  I heard back from tech support named Butta, who was VERY HELPFUL.    I reset everything and started over.  MyQ Home Bridge was tricky but when I painstakingly followed the instructions that are in the app it finally worked.    Here are the links he sent me:

Random things I learned:  You have to pay attention to the colors of the lights; if they aren't right, reset and start over... The Home Bridge does not beep when it resets...  The app shows a picture of the gear button & the numbers 1 & 2 in the wrong place than they are on the actual MyQ Garage device.  I was pressing the wrong buttons because they are very hard to see and I was depending on the picture to show me where they were. Had to climb up there with a flashlight and magnifying glasses...   I did initial set up of the Home Bridge with it moved close to my router and once it was all set up I moved Home Bridge to a wall that was halfway between MyQ Garage device and my router... Also I noticed Home Bridge & Garage Opener showed up in Home Kit in a room named "Default".  I had to go into the Chamberlain app and change them to the correct room, then they showed up correctly in Home Kit. [whew!]
Hope any of this might help.

Powering up the old hub is what fixed my NO RESPONSE issue in HOME so not sure what is still causing your issue. Your MODEL and FIRMWARE version is different - Also I noticed you dont have an Accessories under LOCATION which could be causing your NO RESPONSE issue with HOME

My problem has been fixed in easy way. I bought another MyQ wifi controller, connected it in the app, paired with door sensor, programmed it with non-myq garage opener. Then followed instructions and connected new home bridge, paired it with wifi hub. Everything went without any problem. Now I can control my garage door with Siri or Home app. So the problem was in old hub. Actually it's not old, I bought it a week ago. But it was manufactured in 2015, and the new one I bought today has 2017 year. Probably old wifi hubs don't work with MyQ Home Bridge.

MyQ Hub is also manufactured in 2015. I am curious if this is why my HomeKit isn’t sending commands to the garage door. Just like you I only get “no response” in HomeKit but I get status (open or close) updates from homekit.

I think it is possible that many people having problems getting the  homekit bridge to work, may be those who have a setup with the original ethernet based myQ. I was having problems in much the same way. In particular, I just could not seem to add the myQ homekit accessory in the app. At the point where it wanted to switch to the camera and take a picture of the mac address, it timed out. Since my wifi network is dual band (both 2.4 and 5 ghz) with multiple base stations, i tried forcing it to 2.4 only, and that still didn't work.

The only thing that ended up working, is creating a new home2 in the app and adding the home kit bridge to this new home2. At that point i was able to migrate the old wired connection. It seems like Chamberlain hasn't really tried or documented this path (The setup app even walked you through disconnecting the old wired myQ bridge). I can confirm that forcing a 2.4 ghz only network is not a solution to many of these problems.

The problem I am now  having is that my wife's iPhone can't control the app via SIRI. She can control the garage door via the UI, but not with siri, whereas I can control the garage door on my phone via siri. It is the same account plugged into both phones. I can even see the home kit bridge  within the app on her phone, but it just isn't being registered with homekit on her phone.

So anyone have the home kit myq working with siri on multiple phones?

Hi Irie,

Since the Home Bridge is not showing in your wife’s Home app, you will need to share control of your accessories.

Here is a link to Apple’s FAQs https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204893, go to the section titled, “Share control of your accessories.”

Feel free to reach out with any other questions.

Best,
Chuck
