Genie 3055 Not Pairing with MyQ

I am having an issue pairing my Genie 3055 garage door opener with my new MyQ Gateway. I've tried programming it several times but it can never complete the process (Although it can monitor the door). Although all of YOUR documentation says that this garage door opener should work I've read through the forms that this is not the case. Can you please clarify, and if it does indeed work please let me know what I'm doing incorrectly. Thanks!

I had the same problem. I had to turn the sensor on the door to point up. Then everything worked.

After a couple calls to support they admitted that my Craftsman opener was not compatible even though it said in all the documentation that it was. The only solution for me was to buy a Chamberlain wall switch that did the linkup with the Gateway. I will say that once I put that in the pairing and setup was quick and easy. It has worked flawlessly ever since, love the alerts I get on my phone when the door is opened or closed.

leepoffaith, we need to see if your Genie opener was manufactured before 2016. If it made in 2016 or later, then the MyQ gateway will not be compatible. You can verify this by checking the serial number on the garage door motor. The first two numbers indicate the year of manufacturing, so if they are 16 or 17, then we'll know MyQ is not compatible. Let me know what you find out. Lauren

I have a Genie 2028, seems to not be compatible. Is there some sort of workaround I can use. Some sort of switch I can buy that can then be controlled by the MyQ, or some sort of way to do a manual learn of the controls?

Same problem here, my serial # starts with 17. Is there anything I can do?

Josh, we're not aware of a workaround at this time. I'll keep you posted if I do hear of something. Lauren

I am also having this issue with two Genie 3055 openers, both with serial numbers starting with 17. I see the MyQ documentation still says they should be compatible, so I am wondering how to set these up?

Hi Todd, since your Genie opener was manufactured in 2017, it is not compatible with MyQ. Let us know if you have any other questions, and we're happy to help provide an answer. Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

I purchased the Smart Garage Hub and extra sensor based on the document at the link below stating that all Genie models since 1996 and specifically the Silentmax models (which I have) are compatible.

Todd, our team recommends you return the product to Amazon and consider this updated MyQ Garage and Hub compatibility list for your garage door opener: http://bit.ly/2sj92gY. Let us know if you need further support. Thanks, Chuck
