Genie 2024 won't connect to Smart Hub

I have the MyQ Smart Garage Hub.  It is connected to my main door with a Chamberlain opener and working just fine.  I finally added a sensor for my second garage door which has a Genie 2024 opener.  I can't get the opener to work with the Smart Hub.  My Genie was manufactured in 2005 according to the serial number (starts with 05) and is an Intellicode system with the safety beam/eyes.  Everything I find on Chamberlain support documents indicate that the Genie is compatible but I can't get it to program.  I do see a support article that says "you may need your Genie remote control during programing", but I can't find anything that tells me what to do with it.  I'm stuck. Help!

Well, I was able to get it working. In a last ditch effort, I tried programing my Genie as an "other" brand instead of Genie. Seems to have done the trick!
