Garage Door randomly opening and getting stuck in 'Stopped' status.

I have had a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener that was installed in September 2015. It has worked fairly well till about the last 2 weeks when I noticed the issue similarly to what a lot of other folks have seen.

My door is opening/closing at random times. Infact when I look at the history on the App it actually shows up as 'Stopped' quite a few times. Sometimes the garage door opens and stays open. Sometimes it opens, tries to close and gets stuck midway. In these cases it reports a 'Stopped' status on the app/website.

I have been pretty frustrated by this as this is a major security risk. I have reset the Garage door opener and re-programmed all of my remotes but am still seeing this happen.

Change out the battery in he position sensor. It could be sending false statuses.

There is no battery in the position sensor. It is all plugged in.

Disconnect the MyQ to see if the door works properly with out the app. Sounds like a mechanical problem to me. Could be a spring, cable or rollers pinching issue. Change battery in door sensor first though and make sure it is in the proper up position on the door.

Do not believe it to be a mechanical problem as the app actually notes the random open/close/stopped statuses. Somehow it is getting these requests that is causing the issue.

Last week I removed the arm/hook so that the door would not randomly open/close. The belt is still randomly moving and the MyQ app still shows the status updates as expected. I have disconnected the wall sensor temporarily. Its been 21 hours and no update on the open/close/stopped status. I am going to give it another 48-72 hours and then look at ordering a replacement sensor.

I had the same problem couple of months ago. Door would randomly open for no apparent reason. Disconnected the wall switch and problem stopped. Once I replaced the wall switch (multi-Function switch)  with a new one, Problem solved.

Thanks. I am at almost 72 hours now without a trigger open/close so the wall switch may be the issue.

I will contact Support or Customer Service to see what wall switch options I have for my model HD950WF.
