Garage Door - Listmaster MyQ

I want to be able to use Siri to open and close my garage door. Currently I use Liftmaster gateway that is connected to my router and I am able to use MyQ app on my iPhone to open and close garage door. What device do I need to get in order to get Siri working? Is it possible to use Siri shortcut for this?

Thanks

You need the HomeKit bridge to enable Siri to work

You need to purchase a chamberlain myQ home bridge, which costs about $50. But research it carefully. I was trying to integrate with a Google Assistant. It required an annual subscription from Chamberlain, and it would only close, not open the door.

One small advantage to apple. No monthly/year fees.

I have a geo fence on mine so when my phone is in range the door opens itself and closes after 2 min

How do you do geo fence? With https://ifttt.com/  or HomeKit on iDevice?

Using HomeKit and a unused HomeKit smart plug to run the geofence as HomeKit won’t allow geofences for doors and locks for security reasons

Does this allow you to open the door as well?

Great!!! If you using bridge do I remove gateway? Does the bridge need to be located in garage or anywhere in house is fine as long as it can connect to WiFi?

The gateway may still be needed if the opener itself doesn’t have myQ built in

Does anyone know if bridge needs to be in the garage? I don't want to buy it if needs to be located in garage?

it needs to be in range like the remote

In garage is best as well t beeps for 10 seconds fairly loudly when the door closes. This is a required safety feature.

Unless you are of course talking about the HomeKit bridge in which case it’s silent and as far as I know just needs to be on same wifi network as the MyQ bridge/device

I am talking about this..https://www.chamberlain.com/myq-home-bridge/p/MYQ-G0303-SP
Right now my garage beeps when it is closing. My gateway is connected to the router that is located in the basement

Thank you. I wanted to by one from Chamberlain but it charges me $30.00 for shipping which is way too much

Keep eye on HomeKit one on Amazon or check out Home Depot if you have one near you they carry them sometimes. Saves shipping costs for sure
