With the Home Bridge, it sure would be nice to have the motions sensor in the 888LM available within HomeKit. Is this possible via a firmware upgrade?

Apple recently opened up software authentication, so I think it is possible. I’d really like to see them update all compatible products with software authentication, but it seems unlikely. I bought 2 of their top of the line WiFi openers and don’t see the value in spending an additional $70+ to simply add Siri functionality to something that could just be updated to achieve the same feature.

Here’s a link with more info.

Thanks, Jonathan.  I'm actually pretty familiar with HomeKit and the recent move away from the required MFi chip.  I was actually referring to the Home Bridge hub, which is already HomeKit compatible.  It allows you to open and close your garage door, and see the current status.  That's great and all, but it does not expose the motion sensor in the 888LM to HomeKit.  That seems like a missed opportunity.  It would be great to have one additional motion sensor in my garage, which I could use to trigger other events.
