Changing email address on account

Apparently changing email addresses requires you to delete everything and start over.  That is execrably stupid design.  Whose bonehead idea was it to make email address the primary account identifier in your database?  Do you guys think email addresses are like fingerprints and never change?

So now, if I want to continue receiving notifications, I have to stand outside in a freezing cold garage during a Chicago winter and screw around with setting everything up again, instead of just changing a field in an account profile like any other online service.

Really, you shouldn't offer consumer technology if you can't do it right.  This is unacceptably incompetent.

I actually really like it when my username is my email address for an app because then I don't have to remember a username. I've had the same personal email for over a decade and I don't think I'll ever have any reason to change it since it is my name @ gmail. Why would you ever need to change your personal email address?

Yeah...mine was my name, too, until I gave it back to my ex-husband.  I closed down that email account, don't have access to it and can't log into the account or app to even delete it and start over.  I'd be happy to stand in the freezing cold garage if I could get a response from Chamberlain beyond them stating it's for security.  I'd love access to the features on a product that I purchased specifically for those features. FUBAR Chamberlain!

Kristin, it seems like you would still have that problem even if you could change your email address in the app... Still, it looks like when a similar scenario has happened to others on this board, they were able to email a picture of their gateway serial number to customer support (to prove that they physically possess the gateway) and Chamberlain has been able to release it to be added to a new account. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I finally received a response from technical support that walks me through the steps to switch it over to a new account. Took them four days to respond but at least it was finally with a solution.
