Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener with yellow Learn button won't pair with MyQ App using MyQ Home Bridge

I have set up MyQ Home bridge, 2.4Ghz WiFi, Green Light is on device. App is registered, logged in, I click the yellow Learn button on my non-WiFi enabled MyQ Chamberlain garage door opener and it flashes the light as if paired/learned, but the app just continues to say "waiting on device" then times out.

Hi Cameron - this issue is now fixed, and your garage door opener will pair with your app via your Home Bridge. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I have the identical issue to the OP. How can you say the issue is "fixed" when none of the iOS apps have been updated within the last month. Can we expect an app update to fix this issue soon?

Wouldn't the blue blinking light mean it is trying to learn the WIFI not the garage door? That is the issue, same as mine. When I try to adopt the garage door the green and yellow lights come up but the Home Bridge never picks up the code after I press the purple learn button on my Liftmaster.

What worked for me. IOS 11.2

Ensure you are on same 2.4g (forget and 5g network in your house or go to router and turn it off momentarily)

Set up myq garage HUB to opener and ensure it is working correctly.

Next plug in your BRIDGE and go to your wifi settings. Myq will show up there as a new device, click on it and allow it to access your network.

Next open Apple Home and add the BRIDGE as a new device using the HomeKit code on the back of it. Once done it will not work yet as you have to add it to the app yet. Setting up Apple HomeKit after the app was set up with the bridge did not work for me.

Next open app and press + and “add a new place” . Name it Garage Bridge. It will ask what kind of device you want to add, click “garage door opener”. Here is where it gets tricky, you are looking for the transfer settings button. If it’s there click it and follow directions, if not go through the setup procedure and let it time out. The app will cancel set and go back. seems like after it fails the app goes back and the transfer settings button is there. After you get things transferred the app will tell you that there are no transferable devices. Ignore that. Close the app and open it again and you will notice the hub is gone and only the Garage Bridge remains, open the Home app and it should be working.

Hardly the four steps in the setup manual that came with it. 7 hours invested.

OMG! Shawn Clark you are a genius. THANK YOU for taking the time to post this as I now have Homekit enabled. Why the dumdums at Chamberlain can't make this information available under the device support page is beyond me. All the instructions they show don't work.

I don't know how many hours I had invested, probably about the same as you. I've saved the above in my documents so if I have to set it up again in the future, I'll know what to do.

Again Sir, thank you so much.

I agree...they focus on network issues and disregard the idea that it could be on their end. If Apple knew the difficulties people were having with this device and HomeKit they would pull it. I have multiple other HomeKit devices and setup is as simple as enter the HomeKit code and that’s pretty much it.

Glad I could help at least one person!

Cheers!

I went back and tried to teach the My Q Home Bridge about the accessory using the buttons on the My Q bridge after resetting the device. Again everything seemed to work - I pressed the yellow learn button, the light flashed as if paired/learned. But sadly, after reconnecting the Home Bridge to WiFi it knows nothing about the opener. Are we waiting on an app/firmware update to make this work??

Unfortunately , support has not been able to resolve this issue. Support seems to focus on resetting the device and adding it to my home network - I have done this probably a dozen times and every time the MyQ Bridge appears on my network successfully and can be seen by the iOS app.
What fails is the "learn" step with the garage door opener. Clearly the home bridge is unable to pair with my opener due to some characteristic of the opener OR the home bridge is defective and unable to receive the signal from the opener. I will be returning the MyQ Bridge for a refund.

Loopy, do you want to try swapping out your unit? Lauren

Hi Lauren
I would be prepared to try that as a last resort. Only thing I do not want to spend a lot on shipping. The shipping cost 25% of the price of the unit last time.

Loopy, can you email your shipping information and email address to social@chamberlain.com? Please include this note: FORWARD TO LAUREN. Thanks, Lauren

Hi Lauren
I tried the replacement unit and sadly I had no luck with that one. Clearly that points to some compatibility issue with my particular Craftsman garage door opener preventing the learn phase working. That’s despite my opener working fine with it’s supplied internet bridge ( the one that has to be hardwired via ethernet to the router). I appreciate alll the great help but I think at this point we have tried everything.

Encountering the same problem.  Our garage opener is Model 8355 (MyQ Security+ 2.0), which is supposed to be supported.  There is no issue getting the bridge to connect to our network, but the learn function fails every time (time out).  I called the Liftmaster customer support and the rep clearly knows nothing about the 819LMB (Homebridge) product.  He finally went to discuss with another technician and the only thing they came back with is that i need the 888LM remote, which is false.  Working through some of the steps above to see if it solves the problem for me, otherwise it is getting returned.

Hi Brett, are you using the MyQ Garage or MyQ Smart Garage Hub for your installation of the 819LM? Lauren

Attempting to install the 819LMB with the Liftmaster MyQ Garage Door Opener (Model 8355).  I am replacing the MyQ Garage 821LM unit currently installed from our security company.

After all this time I thought I would try again. Sadly my MyQ bridge/hub still refuses to pair to my late model craftsman opener. It’s just e-trash at the moment...
