Chamberlain app only sends "Door Open" signal, if door is opened 100%.

I think this may be more of a design flaw than a question.
I have a Chamberlain door, and everything seems to work just fine.

The one thing I find concerning however....

My phone only tells me the "Door is Open" after the door has completed the full opening cycle.
SO, if I stop the door from opening at about 90% open, the "Door Open" signal is never sent, and my phone still shows the door as "Closed" even though it's opened 90%.

If the process of opening the garage door isn't allowed to complete on it's own,  if it's interupted or stopped by the anyone, the notification is never sent out.  I would think my door is closed, when in fact someone has opened it 90% (enough to get everything including the car out).

Wouldn't it make more sense to send the door open signal as soon as the 'Closed' position changes, not after the open process completes?????

Can someone please weigh in on this.
Thanks.

The sensor detects if it is in horizontal or vertical mode. Where is your sensor mounted? If the sensor is at the very top of the garage door, it will be in horizontal mode (setting off the open status) even if the door is partially open/closed. If the sensor is closer to the middle or bottom, it will need to be completely open to indicate open status.

Not exactly sure which sensor you are talking about.
I didn't buy an add-on kit...   I bought a brand new Chamberlain Garage Door Opener, with My-Q built in.  The only sensors it came with are the 2 safety sensors that point toward each-other at the bottom of the garage door to sense a person or object in the path of the door....   I can't imagine I would mount those at the top of the door...    of a child were in the way they would never see it, and he'd be crushed.

I have the add on which has you attach a sensor to the door just to measure if it is open or closed.

I see what you mean now.  The integrated unit does not come with that sensor.

Not sure how the integrated MyQ senses open or closed, but with the gateway the sensor reports change in orientation of the sensor, and therefore the door section it is attached to. Seems that in your case the opener piggybacks on the conditions that stop the operation of the opener to report to the app. This certainly is not ideal. What you really want is a "not closed" condition. They certainly could pull from the logic in the controller that stops the opening cycle, but not sure how your opener would know if the door were opened manually after releasing from the opener. I would like to see a 'contact' switch on the door so it is reported as closed only in the fully closed position and open otherwise.
Also, an integrated low res camera for visual confirmation would be a nice addition.

Addendum...
The wireless sensor that comes with the MyQ Garage kit has proven to be somewhat unreliable, but, like all technology products, I never blindly trust it. I've added a wireless security cam in the garage for remote visual verification of Door status.

Yes I was thinking of a wireless IP cam as well....

I'm of the same opinion as the O.P.

I was quite surprised to not get an OPEN signal if the door is stopped (or reversed) during travel.  This is obviously a security concern. it really must trigger an alert at the moment it starts moving (model 8550 here).

Yes it's a HUGE security concern that the system does not consider 90% open, as "OPEN".   Until Chamberlain fixes this, I will NOT recommend this product to anybody.  This can be fixed with a simple firmware update.  Common Chamberlain!!  What's taking so long!?!?!?  ADDRESS THIS ALREADY!    Are these forums just a place to contain unsatisfied customers without actually having an employee address the issues being raised?
