Can't add openers to internet gateway

I have 2 openers, both Liftmaster 8550 and I am trying to connect an internet gateway. I registered the internet gateway with it's serial number and get a green light on the gateway.  When I go to "add a garage door opener" and press the yellow button on the opener, nothing happens, the app (or computer, I tried both) just sits there waiting and eventually I get a message to try again later. Any ideas how to fix this?  The garage openers are less than 40 feet from the openers so i don't think this would be a problem.

Hello ER, can you provide the date codes on the openers. It should be in month/year format on the label near the learn button. Please let us know. We'd be glad to help.

ER, we recommend that you do a hard reset of the Internet Gateway as the next troubleshooting step. I've included a link with the steps to follow for this. Please let me know if this helps.

Forgot to reply.  I did the hard reset, but then had to also reset one of the openers, but did get it to work.  Thanks for your help.  It would be good in the future if they added the reset button instructions to the instructions with the gateway.
