My friend just installed a new Chamberlain door opener and I have the new internet gateway.  Due to my disability, I'’m trying to make a morning schedule via MyQ app in order to open the garage door for my assistant to arrive in my house on the weekends morning because I'’m on my bed without using my iPhone.  When I was trying to make the schedule, the only option is to set it to close.   Why I can't change the button from Close to Open.  Is that a bug or a default?

I don't have the answer and I agree that this functionality should be there. Having said that, in my opinion in many situation one doesn't want the garage door to open at a particular time. Somebody who observes the neighborhood for possible burglary or even robbery (elderly and handicapped people often are considered easy targets) might take advantage of that. Also if one happens to be away (vacation/trip/etc) and forgets that the garage door opens automatically could expose themselves.

In this particular situation, I think the ideal solution would be having an Alexa. When the assistance comes she can ring the bell (or call when she is just around the corner), then the OM can simply tell Alex "Alexa, tell Chamberlain to open the garage door". Of course, that would require that Chamberlain adopts IFTTT which they STILL have not done.

Good idea, BUT I DON'T THINK Alexia or Siri would understand my speech (cerebral palsy accent).  LOL
