Looking for info on HomeKit bridge availability for Canada. Since the main thread is now completely polluted with man-tantrums this thread was opened to start fresh.

I realize that this product is more popular that Chamberlain probably expected but please get this into your Canadian retail distributors asap.

Chamberlain: MYQ-G0303-SP
LiftMaster: 819LMB

Many of the existing Chamberlain/Liftmaster retailers here in Canada are not even aware that this product exists.. including some local installers who have been sell your openers for years. They know about the Internet Gateway but not the HomeKIt Bridge. They may be assuming that all gateways support Apple HomeKIt but we (on this forum) know that is not the case.

Like others have said, I purchased a Chamberlain opener last year based on the news that HomeKit was coming soon.

Thanks

Whoa - how’d I miss this offer back in September, I was pumped when myq announced the HomeKit bridge, and even tried to buy it at the into $49.99US price but couldn’t get it shipped to me in Canada.

This free deal was killer. Dang!

Anyone know how to get a good deal on it in Canada? I Still want it, and just got an Apple Watch, so want to be driving up to my house and wrist Siri the garage open like a super hero.

Yeah the Siri way over the watch has been fantastic. Right now liftmasters website offers shipping to Canada but it’s pricey. You appeared to miss the CES deal too where it’s was $20 cheaper

Pretty the code expired but head over and try it if you like

The code was “CES2018”

Yup - just tried CES promo code and is no longer working.
Thanks for the suggestion Michael.

Chamberlain - romance me with a Valentines Special!

get a $35 raspberry pi zero W and install homebridge on it... I have ... works flawlessly... Siri open garage it does... as I drive up ... it opens.... as I drive away it closes... I wish the actual product was available in Canada however it's not and google search has offered a cheap and effective solution... btw the same method allows all those other non HomeKit products to become HomeKit compatible...

Sounds interesting. Do you have instructions on how to download HomeKit onto a Rasp Pi?

How does it then interact with the door opener? Is the Pi directly connected to the opener?

Thanks,
Marty

Homebridge is open source software that accepts plugins. the plugins are also provided by the open source community and what it does is allows Homebridge to emulate homekit for non homekit compliant devices. I have mine running off my server it was controlling my MyQ, Nest Thermostate, Philips Hue and Wemo plugs. now its all of the above minus the MyQ since my bridge came in.

not sure how to install on the Pi but only took a couple hours to learn how and set it up properly as docker using my server software unraid. it would work on pretty much any Linux distro that supports dockers as well (Fedora) to name one so if you have a space PC laying around load linux and experiment..

Michael, and Daniel thanks for the advice using Homebridge plugins, and pi. I have a raspberry pi currently doing nothing right now but I I only have a myq enabled chamberlain garage door opener not the WiFi model. So I would suspect I would still need chamberlain’s original Myq internet hub for either of your these solutions to work. Unless I’m wrong and this works without a WiFi hub. Or ....chamberlain could just let us buy the damn HomeKit bridge in Canada at a reasonable price. Come on chamberlain this shouldn’t be this hard.

Cool - went down a nice youtube wormhole on this topic.  I have an always-on PC, so I'll try this out sans pi.  Thanks for the advice.

Ok I tried this and it would be great however my garage door opener is not a WiFi model. So I’m back to waiting for this device to come to Canada. How is chamberlain can give it away for free to some lucky Canadians, but they can’t seem to sell it to Canadians.

Thanks maybe I missed something. How do you do the sign in portion for the config.json file. That is where it seems to hit a snag for me. Update, I did not miss anything my model PD752KEVC needs a gateway to connect MYQ to the network. In order to register a MYQ account you need a MYQ serial #, which this model does not have. Lastedestiny  who according to the posts has a homebridge and may have been confused that i was talking about the homebridge hub set up not the raspberry pi set up.
If Chamberlain would just make the homebridge available I would not have wasted my time trying to figure this out. Chamberlain I think at the very least you should be offering this item to Canadians with the introductory discount, or at the very least free shipping.

Unfortunately I missed out on this offer from my father who is disabled, please let us know when it will be available as it would be a great help to him to be able to open the garage from his wheelchair. Bonus points if you offer the free ones again to your loyal customers. Thank you

Any chance there will be another way for Canadian customers to get their hands on one of these?

That’s great it’s now shipping to Canada from chamberlain.com! How about a free shipping offer like what was offered originally? I got excited for this product when it was being offered for $49 and free shipping. Now the landed price is over $150. :(

No kidding. I’ve been waiting for a long time too, but I won’t do it for that ridiculous price. Very disappointing.

Hi chamberlain. I purchased my WD832KEVG Garage Door Opener, 1⁄2 HP, Ultra-Quiet Belt Drive Operation, Bundled With Chamberlain MyQ Internet Gateway For Smartphone Control on 8/5/17.

I realize that I am late to the party but I am wondering if I can still get a discount on the Homebridge, i can provide proof of purchase upon request, I bought it from Amazon.
