The first question would be do you have an AppleTV 4th Gen+? If not, you will not be able to geofence your home as the ATV is needed to act as a Home Hub. 

If so, see this thread:

Then in when setting up the scene, one of the triggers will be "When I arrive" and "When I leave. That will setup the GeoFence.

Additionally, because the trigger is connecting to an entry on your home (Door Lock / Garage Door) The GeoFence will not simply activate the device.  It will prompt for a confirmation of that action to ensure that is its intended at that point.

I have Apple TV 4th gen and have followed all the steps however it does not prompt me to open the garage door, is there another setting I should look at?

Dennis, geo-fencing is a feature provided through HomeKit, which MyQ devices can be used with. So, we would recommend checking with Apple for set up instructions.

I have a Liftmaster with WiFi and MyQ and have it linked to my WiFi and can use the app but how do I set it up so it will auto open when I am within a certain distance?
