Battery low, will not allow me to close garage door

My iOS app was updated today (version 3.75).  I opened the app and I saw a yellow triangle w/exclamation mark next to the door image.  The message on the bottom of the screen said 'Low battery'.

I tapped the yellow triangle thinking it would offer me more info.  Instead, it opened my garage door!  The triangle is near the garage icon but there's no indication that tapping it would also open the garage.

Now, my garage is open and will not close.  Tapping the garage door image is not closing the door.  I'm assuming this is because the battery is low.  Now I'm at work and my garage is open!

What a terrible design to 1) put the warning icon so close to the garage image so that 2) tapping close to the garage (but not on it) will also open the door, and 3) allowing me to open but not allowing me close the door.

You can put a warning requiring password or Touch ID to be required before the door opens that's how mines set up but agreed tapping the ! should not open the door in the first place.

You can find it in the app under Menu->Account->Security

Thanks for the reply, Michael.  I already had the Touch ID setup for entering the app.  I wasn't aware there was another setting for opening the door.  I turned that on, too, based on your suggestion.

I guess my main point was primarily allowing me to open the door but not close it.

Yeah sucks it wasn't low enough to prevent opening the door but now is to close it. Hopefully everything is ok though happen to know your neighbours well enough to try and close it for you ?

They weren't home so my wife had to take off work and travel home to close the door.  That's one of the reason's I'm angry about this.  I often check my garage door when I'm out traveling.  If that happened when I was hundreds of miles away from home, it would've been really bad.

I work for a software company and we spend hundreds of hours trying to figure out how our apps could cause problems and then we fix them.  I just can't believe a big company like this either didn't see a problem like this or (worse) saw it but decided it wasn't worth the time & money to make sure it didn't happen.

Just so everyone knows who's frustrated with this low battery problem. This is a thread from TEN MONTHS ago and Chamberlain never did anything to fix it. It's seems once your battery is low, it's a "throw away" product. We keep hearing promises for a fix, but there's nothing been done.

I would suggest anyone having this issue should tweet to  @ChamberlainDIY asking for an update.  Also include @jsohovic who is the CEO of Chamberlain.   I dont usually go to those extremes, but I think 6 weeks is long enough.  It is time to fix them or replace them.

This is the response I received this morning -
