Any updates on these two issues irritating myq customers?

1) when is IFTTT and/or Google integration for myq coming to Europe
2) why can these services only be used to close gate, not to open them? How is opening them a security issue? It is a lifesaving feature - I want to be able to link my gate opener to our smoke detectors. If there is a fire, I want my driveway gate open before the electricity is gone. I want my family to get out safely and the fire brigade to get in without delay...

#1 - No sure why they would limit this IFFT/Google access from Europe, but it likely has some regulation or tax requirement they are interpreting which prevents this.

#2 - this is a philosophical can of worms. Chamberlain has decided to dig their heels in on what they consider 'needed' and "Safe". Many of the DIY home automation third-party add-on vendors are having to deal with this same dilemma. Some allow full automated operation from Alexa and Google, some only from their phone APP.  Chamberlain took the odd approach to allow full OPEN and CLOSE from their APP, but only CLOSE from home automation integratyions.. That is weird in my humble opinion.

If you have the Chamberlain Garage Door opener, In my opinion you'd be better served to work with a third party on the full open intelligence. A handful of third parties allow this full integration, advanced status, open and close commands, etc.  They all attached to dumb Chamberlain GDOs and work well.  Now, IF you have a garage door opener from Chamberlain with INTEGRATED MyQ BUILT INTO THEIR OPENER itself, then you would have the annoying need to pretend their intelligence doesn't exist inside their motor head at all and simply add the third party's controller to your Smart GDO , essentially treating it like its dumb (as if it had nothing built in).

Frustrating...

Sad...

Hi Mark, thanks for your comprehensive response! I have a Liftmaster SCS300 Single 24V Kit gate opener and the corresponding Internet gateway. I understand from your text that I might be able to replace the gateway with a third party gadget - but presumably that would have to communicate with the receiving unit/gate controller on the same radio-frequency and send the correct codes/sequences. What third party products are out there, how could I find out?
