Alert when Garage Door(s) left open at night.

I am attempting to set an alert for when I forget to close the garage door(s). I tried to set up an alert to get notified when the door is open for more than 30 minutes between 8PM and 11PM. Every time I set the "door open" button when I create the rule and save it, it does not seem to stay set. When I test the alert with the test button the alerts do get delivered. However I left the door open tonight and did NOT receive the alert automatically. Any thoughts?

Is anyone else having these problems when trying to set up alerts when the garage door(s) are left open at night?

I don't think the alerts work the way you want.  I believe that the alert will be sent if the garage door is still open 30 minutes after it was opened.  So the way you have it set it will only alert if the garage door is opened between 8 and 11 and is left open for more than 30 minutes.  You can check this by opening the door after 8 pm and waiting 30 minutes.  You should then get an alert.

Thanks for explaining how it works.  I did do a quick test and it worked as you described.  I will set up the alerts appropriately.

It would be nice to be able to check at a specific time each night before going to bed though,

I have mine set to automatically close each night at a dedicated time. That way I don't need to worry about it.

Kevin - How do you do that?  I have the MyQ Smart Garage connected to 2 Craftsman garage door openers.

Is there a "Schedules" section in your MyQ app when you select the sandwich on top left?  I have a Chamberlain opener with integrated MyQ, so perhaps that feature is unique to the Chamberlain openers?  The Schedules allow you to set for automatic openings or closings at specified days. it is very handy, as I have the door set to automatically close at 10 pm so that even if a family member forgets to close it, it will automatically close the door.

IIRC from previous questions like this, scheduled closes are only available to openers with MyQ built in (like my 8550) and NOT the MyQ add on equipment.
