Alert for door open more then 10 min after 8pm.

I set up an alert to let me know if my door is open after 8pm for more then 10 minutes. It seems the alert is only sent if the door is opened after 8pm for more then 10 minutes. I want to know if the boys left the door open all day and no one closes it in the evening. The alert does send when I sent a test. Am I doing something wrong?

Ken, try this troubleshooting guide: https://bit.ly/2vvJ6Cs. If you are still looking for help after that, let us know. Thanks, Chuck

Sounds like the link wasn't helpful in addressing @Joseph's original question. @Chuck, I'm having the same problem, any suggestions?

The troubleshooting guide is useless for what you want to do and the "Manager" knows it.  The fact is that their system simple does not do what you want it to do.  It's actually "working" exactly like it's poorly designed to work.

There's a 3 year old thread about this: https://myqcommunity.chamberlain.com/chamberlainmyq/topics/rule-for-reminding-you-if-forget-to-close-the-garage-door-at-night

Mike and Ken, a specific alert as you've described would be created with the user choosing “Opened” , with a required duration of 10 minutes (set by the user), choosing a specific time set by the user (8:00 PM to 11:59PM). Then you could even set it to happen during specific days of the week (defaults to every day). Once you've set this up, you can also decide how to be notified (push/email). Let me know if that helps or or if need further assistance. Thanks, Chuck

I just ordered the smart garage hub, haven't received it yet, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can about alerts (before I install it). I already downloaded the iOS app and created an account. Is there an online manual that shows how to create alerts?

Sorry Chuck, but our concern is that what you describe does not work. It will work if the garage door "Opens" during that time frame and stays open for 10 minutes, but will not work if the door was opened before 8pm and remains open for over 10 minutes after 8pm.

What happens if you also add a scheduled Close door at 8pm?

That may be a work around but is not the functionality that I'm looking for.

Mike and Ken, the level of conditions you're asking for is currently outside the software functionality. We recommend prioritizing what the most important criteria is for the alert. Is it the fact that the door is open for 10 minutes or if that window falls past 8pm? A possible solution is to set the alert for 7:50-11:59pm, if the door has been open 10 minutes. That way the alert would be triggered if the door had been open for 10 minutes landing on 8pm or later. Let us know if that helps. Thanks, Chuck

Chuck, respectfully, I think you're missing the point. Is it possible to poll the door to determine if it's open and send an alert? I don't care how long it's been open but if it's open, within a given time frame, alert me.

Last night I opened the door at 10:30 pm an left it open for over 20 minuts and never recieved a notification. When I send a test signal from the home page, the notification does come to my phone.

The purpose of this is avoid accidently leaving the door open all night. Perhaps I'll just schedule a close every night a 11pm. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
