Why in this day and age is this feature not here yet?
We need the ability to add users to our MyQ accounts.
Like A Wife, Husband, Kid, Roommate, Relative, etc....
Multiple people live in my house and should be able to open the door from their phones.
I am not the only person who needs this.
I should not have to share my account with others. That is a bad security practice and doesn't allow for tracking of who is actually opening and closing the door and when.
Get with the times and add this feature already..... Even Wink lets you share your light bulbs with other users for crying out loud...

You answered your own question. I never use the MyChamberlin app. I use the Wink app, including on my Apple Watch and so can my family members.

Todd, I understand that. But this should be fixed in the MyQ app, I don't want to have to sign in with my cred's on their phones. What happens if the creds get changed, or need to be re-authenticated. Screw that, lets just do it the right way. It's 2015, Chamberlain needs to get with the times.

I would really like to see account management so multiple users can control the door with their own credentials.

I agree.
My kid's phone keeps forgetting the password. I don't want him to have access to this site. I want him to have his own log-in credentials. And, if I want to temporarily add a friend, I should be able to do so.

Yes, but Chamberlain does not do their programming in house. If they did the APP would have what it should have. Guest login, timer function, are both missing, and Chamberlain says they have no plans to add them. I need to return the gateway, it was fun for a week. Need to look at Z-wave plus.

Hi Dawn - any status update? I'm an app developer and we'd be happy to help build this feature. IT'S ESSENTIAL AND NEEDS TO BE ROADMAPPED ASAP. Not sure how many more upvotes you need to accelerate this but please release this feature by the end of March??

Let me add my voice to this requirement (it is not a request). I just installed the internet gateway at my house and my wife and I both created accounts. I was disappointed to find that her phone told us that the gateway was already added to another account. That is ridiculous. I should be able to share this with her without sharing an e-mail or credentials. She may want different alerts than I do. We do not share e-mail addresses, so only one of us could receive e-mail alerts.
As a software engineer myself, I can say that this is basic security and design. In fact, it's even better to allow someone else to manage credentials rather than making people keep yet another set of username and passwords. I would like to point out that this commenting system allowed me to login with an OpenID provider like Google. Why wouldn't your system allow that too?

Fred and Barney chiseling away at the code : ) I leave for a week, away on the 2nd, that's my deadline for a timer function. Just got back from three weeks turning lights on and off every f%#& night. I really am hating these light switches, hope once I set up VeraPlus in a few months hope some other moron will buy them on eBay.

Yes, it is ridiculous that this has not been corrected. I have a 2 car garage, installed the base unit and 2 door sensors. I was excited as this would now allow my daughter to enter/exit the garage easily when she comes home from college. I was very disappointed to discover that it was not possible for her to have her own access! I am at a loss to understand why the developers would not design the product for multiple users. I guess common sense and practicality escaped them.

You are exactly right, they are clueless. no timer for lights, only one logon, ect.. I am starting vacation today, and for the next 7 days will play with the lights in my house, a vacation timer would have been great.

I am contemplating taking mine back for this one also.... undecided though. I like the looks of the openers, and indoor and outdoor keypads on the chamberlain much better than the ryobi and all of the issues are fixable in software and web interface but it doesnt look like they will ever do it!
Does anyone know about the functionality of the Ryobi app and interfaces?

Has this been fixed yet? I'm trying to set this app up on my daughter's phone so she can open the garage, but I can't add the hub that's connected to my account and I can't add her to my account because that functionality doesn't seem to exist. Is this fixed, if not, will this be fixed?

I can't believe that the myQ app is only good for a single user. I'm impressed with high tech garage door opener but the single user app is a deal killer!

I literally made an app that does this for the price of a $20 Arduino and about $5 in circuitry to hack a garage door opener. Only mine works for multiple users and has an Apple Watch app.

So I have to set my wife's phone up with my username and password to get both our phones to work? How incredibly shortsighted... The two most common WRONG assumptions software developers make 1) families have one person and 2) a person has only one email address.

Based on another post, I downloaded the WINK app. My daughter's phone kept forgetting the MyQ log-in information. WINK connects right into the MyQ like a native application. If I remember correctly, you have to input your MyQ credentials, but you can have a unique email / log-in to WINK.
After helping her, I started using WINK too. I like its interface better.

I guess I will keep the touch burning because this does need to be addressed from a security perspective (Information Assurance). Please, keep this issue on the radar for future upgrades and enhancements. While a number of users have reported a work around using "Wink." There is a small piece that was not shared. Wink only works if you have the Wink Hub not the "Link Hub." Users like myself who only have the link hub will run into a number of limitations with the app. So, please continue efforts in this area that will shift this from a good product. but to a great one!

I just set up my garage door opener and started to look around to see where I could add "users" to the app, like the wife and kid. Come to find out, there is no support for multiple users. How upsetting and disappointing. I should have saved myself some $ and bought a non-wifi equipped garage door opener had I known this then. Now the family still has to use clunky remotes!

Hello Michael – Thanks for your feedback; your MyQ system will accommodate unlimited users. Anyone with whom you share your credentials will have access to the account and all its functionality. Your authorized users will simply have to download the app on their phones to sign into the account you have set up.

@Eric Halvorsen,
Thanks for taking the time out to reply. Unfortunately, that is not the ability I am looking for. Sharing my login credentials with other members of my family is not the best way to support multiple users. That's more like the lazy programmer's way.
I can think of 3 "smart home" apps right off the top of my head that have the ability to have different users with their own accounts:
NEST
August Smart Lock
C by GE
The last app/device was just released to market this month and already has multiple users enabled.
I need the ability to assign each individual family member his / her own "ID" this way I know family member "X" opened / closed the garage door at time "Y".
Also setting restrictions on certain users should be in the app as well. Like @HarrySamuel mentioned previously. There should be no reason for a teenage kid to open the garage door after "Y" time at night, etc..etc...
I see this thread was opened 5 Months ago. Then another Official Rep replied 4 months ago stating that she was going to push this forward.
5 months ago is an eternity in the tech world and quite frankly, disappointing to your users that this ONE feature has not been implemented.
I could care less if my garage door opener "talks" to my NEST thermostats. I'd trade multiple users for the ability any given day.
Who can we speak to? Who can we email or contact to get this feature implemented. Not only for a efficiency standpoint but also for safety!

Just want to leave this thought here, where it's appropriate....the comments above were made TWO YEARS AGO, and here we sit without multi-user functionality still, what an atrocity. This is why, I have not, in good faith, recommended this product to my neighbors / friends. Two years is more than enough time to add this functionality, and sadly, the "representatives" here continue to smooth over the crowd by replying with the same canned response, "it's coming soon". I really wished that I gave the Ryobi a second chance, I was having connection issues with the wireless keypad that a good number of users were experiencing as well. I also was not fond of the built-in LED light, I appreciate a change of a bulb if something goes dead.

This is ridiculous. I mean, the Ring Doorbell app allows multiple users
without giving up each other's credentials. A #$%#! DOORBELL company
had a better execution and vision. This is a great garage opener but
falls flat with a crippled app. Do you seriously think
every household is single and lives by themselves? What's the point of
an app? And no, I don't want to give my own credentials cause I
shouldn't have to. Do you think this is the best way to engage with your
product? When people paid well over $300 for a garage opener which
flaunts as 'wifi-enable' and support an app, they expect not get ripped
off with a flawed app. It takes time to install this garage opener and I expect an app
that can be shared with the entire family. I don't need your company to
dedicate how we should use the app. You should have figured that out
through product testing. It should be quite standard by today's
standards. Go back and learn from RING. This is pathetic.

@EricHalvorsen it's an utterly ridiculous answer to say "we accommodate unlimited users - just give an unlimited number of people your password"
So to help you out, I've started a Twitter thread that others can retweet (or copy). https://twitter.com/ucnunes/status/71...

WTF is wrong with your software engineers? This is simply ridiculous! This products has been on the market for years and this very simple user control an authentication is not available. I'd like my mower guy to be able to open and close the front gate but not the garage. I'd like my cleaning crew to be able to open the front garage but not the rear garage and only on Tuesdays unless I tell otherwise. I'd like my buddy visiting from out of town to have access to my garage but only for a day. I'd like to be able to see who opened and closed the garage doors and the gates and when without having to get an alert about it.
With Kevo eKeys I can do all this and then some. My Ring doorbell can have separate user accounts too.
This is a trivial request that should be one of the primary use cases going up on the white board during product development. It pains me to see such ignorance on your programmers part. Maybe you should feed that poor guy (it has got to be a one man show) more than a bologna sandwitch every now and again.

OK 2 months after the last post in this thread....... and crickets from MyQ support - where does this stand?
and by that, I mean in the development process - I know where it stands regarding the product since I just installed one of the openers and am appalled at the lack of pretty much everything:
- only one user account
- cannot create other users
- cannot control when access can granted
- cannot control WHICH door they have access to
- no Amazon Echo integration
so far this "connected feature" is very much a "me too" add on to have a feature bullet point on the box...the only upside is that this could ALL be addressed through software. Listen to your users and take their input, requests, and yes....demands seriously. IMO Kevo and Ring should be used as the examples to follow.
Oh yeah, also, security???? Besides the already glaring problems with user account management and permission restriction pointed out above, ummmmmmmmmm, basically all a person has to do is figure out the pattern on serial numbers and then just add any opener to their app? No physical confirmation needed to add unit? like button press on the opener or keypad? Is there any limitation to the number of units you can add to the app? generate all serial numbers and add all variation of them.....and BAM a truly universal MyQ for all of them sold? YIKES.

I would also like to have multiple users and one admin user. In the first day of my family using the opener, my garage door got renamed "max was heer." Hopefully when Chamberlain supports Apple HomeKit, we can retire the myQ app and resolve this.

I have multiple properties (primary home, businesses, rentals, vacation/second homes, etc) and I know I can set them up as different places in the app and get push notifications and control them all. That is a nice feature. What is missing is the ability to setup other users (family members, tenants, guests, employees) with different email addresses and grant access to those users to one or more of those places, so they can control those places and setup their own alerts. I do not care as much about other access restrictions (specific devices, date/time, etc), those are nice to have features.
Chamberlain's suggested solution of sharing my email and password (and thus giving someone else complete access to all my properties) is completely out of the question. Their other solution of making individual accounts for each place and sharing those makes the push notifications from the app useless since it would only control and notify you of whichever location it was last signed into.
Without the ability to share access to other users to specific places so they can receive alerts and control those places makes this solution much less valuable to me. I was about to start installing myQ systems at all of my properties, but now I'm considering other solutions since myQ will not work for me without this feature. Even the most basic version of this feature: multiple logins with different emails getting access to selected places would go a long way towards meeting my needs and the needs of the posters in this thread. And as a software professional, I may have been able to build the feature into the myQ software in less time than it took me on the phone with Chamberlain support and to write this post.
Chamberlain, can you please give us an official update in this thread?

I picked up my new Chamberlain opener with WiFi yesterday and was wondering about how it would work on both my wife's an my cellphones. After reading these posts and learning about the unfortunate fact that Chamberlain has no plan to fix it, the opener is going back to Home Depot!
If all customers do it, you will see that the lazy a$$es at Chamberlain management get it fixed in 2 weeks. They only do it if they find themselves on the loosing side. As long as the customers are on the losing side, they have no motivation to move a finger.

I just finished putting up my opener. NOW I find this HUGE hole in the app.......If I do not see some action/response here in the next 10 days, I am taking down the opener, and taking it back!! I am also going to the HD, Lowes, Menards, Amazon, and other to leave my opinion. I suggest that EVERYONE else here do the same!! How can you not have an "Owner" profile, that creates and manages access for all other "sub/child" accounts..... FIX IT QUICKLY, PLEASE!

10 day response?!!? I'm sorry but can't help laughing at that. This has been an issue for over A year!! With no response or movement.
I've left every negative review I can possible find, even the IOS and Google App reviews. ..... Still no official comment from Chamberlin on any review.
I highly encourage everyone I know to NOT purchase the garage door opener. It may be a smash thing to Chamberlin, but to me, I get ALLOT of satisfaction out of it.

Chamberlain,
It is coming to the end of 2017 and it is time for you to officially respond to the ability of multiple users. Your "announcement" was a great thing for promoting your product but your failure to follow through with your commitment will erode your market share. Are you going to offer the multiple user capability as promised and what is the exact date of that release?
I have recommended the My Q Garage to more than a few who have followed through and installed one. Until I hear the multiple user feature is available, I will now discourage others from buying this product.
A quick response is expected.

You guys might be going about this the wrong way. Chamberlain is what it is, you bought what you bought and there is no secret that it doesn’t live up to expectations.
TAKE IT BACK, RETURN IT, like I did.
Genie has a good product for a similar price with all of the extra features you are looking for.
BUY A DIFFERENT PRODUCT, like I did.
If you buy a product and it doesn’t meet your expectations, return it and get something better.

most of us are WAY past the return option as they have been promising the addition of this functionality for more than 2 years. Trust me if I ran across this forum when I had first bought mine I would have immediately returned it. Now its about the lies (and that is EXACTLY what they are at this point) that keep being told by Chamberlain and Lauren busy spewing the company line

I agree that the native app is lacking but I don't have high expectations from a one-product company. That's why my suggestion / solution from a year ago is still valid. Use the Wink app and you will get a lot of the features requested.

I was using smart things to control the garage door. Chamberlin got wind of it and shut it down. They pay attention, only to hurt the users. Just a matter of time until they get wind of the Wink workaround

These should be built into their app (especially if they are worried about security) so that they have control. They obviously understand the control aspect when they shut down access to other companies filling in the gap they create by not doing their job
