888LM motion sensors extremely unreliable

NOTE: This is a repost of a previously posted question. Previously, the MyQ Community Manager told me LiftMaster support would get in touch with me. That didn't happen, and my original post seems to have disappeared. So I'm posting again.

I have three 888LM control panels that came in the box with my three LiftMaster 8500 jackshaft garage door openers. Two of the openers were purchased in 2015 and the other one was purchased in 2017. The motion sensors on all three panels only occasionally detect motion and turn on their associated overhead lights. Most of the time I walk out into a dark garage.

The door openers operate 100% correctly via the panel, and the associated overhead lights always turn on when the doors are operated. But all three of the motion sensors only occasionally work.

Is this normal? If not, what troubleshooting steps could I perform?

Hi Lauren,

I received exactly one email from customer support. They didn't ask any questions. They simply advised that I need to separate the MyQ Control Panels from one another by at least 12" horizontally and 28" vertically, and also consider turning off the motion sensors (which makes no sense at all considering that my issue is that the motion sensors aren't working).

Several email replies from me requesting clarification went unanswered.

It's great that Chamberlain is monitoring these forums. But if the customer support experience I received is typical, you might as well not bother.

Mike

PS - I'm still having the problem with the motion sensors not working consistently.
