888 lm no power on wall switch suddenly

Garage opened on its own and there is no power showing on wall switch. If I disconnect it everything seems to work but when it's connected back up nothing works.

Did it short out? The app isn't working either suddenly. It indicates door was closed despite it being open. Did the wall unit fry?

It's an 888lm

Lastly, can I get a new wall controller with motion sensor and use my original internet gateway? Sad

Had two separate Liftmaster 888LM wall controllers fail in the last couple months, one just a week ago. Each time the associated doors just suddenly opened on their own, and no light indications or function at the wall controller. I was able to remove the control panel and just touch the wires together to open/close the doors. Is Liftmaster/Chamberlain still offering replacements for these faulty units (at least one)? Is there a form to fill out?

Thanks

Well, just chatted with Liftmaster/Chamberlain rep, seems replacement 888LM's are on back-order, with no expected delivery date. So I guess I have two doors dead in the water, unless I am inside my garage and can just short the wires together to operate the doors... Must be a large amount of them that have failed. Not good...

Any word on what the solution is? They don't seem to be keen on helping anybody. There are no stores that sell this control panel either, so forget running to the store and buying a new one.

There are 2, 2.7V/1 farad caps mounted side by side on the circuit board that seems to go bad, sometimes quickly, sometimes after a couple years. Seems newer versions of the 888LM have better quality caps installed. the caps are not very expensive, and easy to replace if you have a soldering iron and some solder, a little experience in electronic work is helpful. If you are lucky, a customer service rep will contact you based on your post, and possibly offer a extended warranty replacement.

I talked to the support group and they gave me a new panel, free. They sent me a liftmaster branded as there weren't any Chamberlain one available. New panel worked fine, however, if you have any accessories, you will have to clear the memory to get them to forget the old panel and connect to the new one. You will have to add it Into your app and delete the old one as well.

Received replacement 888LM panels, installed, and so far they have been working great. Of course time will tell the full story of the longevity of the components currently used internally. I would add or update my previous product review but it seems I am limited to one submittal.

I had the same thing happen to me today. I had to leave work to go home and lower and lock my door. I have the same unit as above 888lm about 4 years old.

It is my understanding that 888LM controllers with a date code of mid 2015 and newer have the revised components. Those dated before then as susceptible to the cap failure issue.

I doubt I've had it for more than 5 years but either way, it has failed. There are no lights on the unit for no apparent reason

How do you contact support? For some reason none of the links are opening.

I have 3 of these in my garage. The house is 6 years old and I have replaced 4 wall panels so far, and now need a 5th. Every time, come home, door wide open, dead switch. A glaring security concern, let alone that im into wall panels for over $400 now. Not impressed.
