!!!Door cannot be controlled because of too many failed attempts error!!!

I've read the posts, moved the hub, deleted the doors, re-installed the doors (x3), deleted the hub  and re-installed (x2) and I still have the error "door cannot be controlled..."  Super frustrating!!  The app works on an Android Note 3 (rooted running lollipop 5.1.1), but won't work on an iPhone 6s running IOS 9.1, iPhone 6 IOS 9.1, iPad 3 IOS 9.01, or on the PC.  What the heck!?!  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

On several occasions and now we've had a full week of intermittently being locked out. Our teenage daughter that drives was late to school because it told her too many failed attempts. Which by the way, this error occurs when you out the app with no attempts to open the door !

You can have someone call me to resolve this or send me devices that work.  Otherwise, I'm going on a personal mission to let Amazon know the service I've received so far and ask for a return on all my Chamberlin products!

Strange only on the iPhone. I thought it might be the IOS version, but even on 8.4. Funny how a rooted android with a custom rom runs it no problem. I'll be sure to post if administration or I can come up with a fix.

Hey to all who are following this thread.  I don't know what support did, but now everything works as it should!  Dawn asked me for my setup email and poof the doors work on all Apple devices as well as Android.  The only problem I had was being "kicked" from the Apple app in the morning and it not allowing me to log in for about 1/2 hour.  After that, all was well.  I opened and closed both doors on the different devices today and everything worked like a charm.  Thanks for your help support! Unfortunately, I don't know what they did so I can't help anyone following this thread.  Sorry :(  With any luck, support can fix your problem too!

I am so glad to hear that. I wish I could tell you that I waved my magic MyQ wand over your account and it started working. I have no idea what may have happened for it to start working. But, I am so glad it did.

I just installed a MyQ smart hub and problem with mine is that it failed on the very first attempt to open the door, closing is no issue. It gives me the position status correctly but every time I close the door a message appears that says the door can not be controlled because of too many failed attempts. please operate the door locally to reset and allow unattended operation. any body around there with magic wand?

Jian, did you try unistalling and reinstalling the door sensor? If that doesn't work try the hub itself. I know it's a "pita" but it seemed to work for me. I think the "magic wand" occurs after you uninstall the hub and reinstall, then it takes 12-24 hours (ballpark) for their servers to update the reinstall. Like clearing the cache on your phone/computer by rebooting. Once I did this everything magically worked. Somehow the first install for some people must get corrupted somehow and then with a fresh install and the "cache clear" it works. I have no data to back this up, but this seems to be what's happening. Just my opinion. It's certainly worth a try for you. Once everything works, these things are pretty cool! Even my non techie wife loves them. Best of luck!

Thanks for your kind reply,
Although I did uninstall and reinstall both hub and sensor so many times yesterday, I'm going to do this one more time today and then leave it alone and wait to see what happens. I will do this to the app itself as well. It totally seems like a software issue to me. Once again thanks for your reply, I will let you know if it works.

Jian,
Awesome! Happy to hear it's working for you. You will wonder how you did without it once you use it for awhile. Maybe chamberlain should hire me as a troubleshooter! LOL.

I'm on my second Chamberlain door controller; the first one was faulty and the company replaced it for free. A nice gesture, but it translated into substituting one waste of time for another. The first unit wouldn't work at all; this second one opens the door, but will close it only halfway.

To be fair, other than Chamberlain driving the IFTTT people, the Smartthing people, the Homekit people, away, then need to do something right. Not sure why your are having trouble, mine worked, and works perfect.

You need to give more information. Are you using 888lm, with what door opener, through the gateway. With the APP, ore remote? Your best option is to call them, they do usually help their core customers.

FYI, I used my opener through the gateway with my computer, My Samsung Note 4 and my wifes Galaxy 7 just fine then I tried from my computer again and the thing gave me the same error you all had. Come to find out that my wife decided to clean out the camper and had some Rubbermaid totes blocking the sensors. Have to work locally and all is well.

Also wanted to express my disappointment that Chamberlain shared my email address and now I'm getting hounded by garage door and accessory manufacturers... Thanks, Chamberlain.
