(2) 8500w jackshaft May WiFi openers and HomeKit

I recently upgraded my 2 8500 liftmaster openers to 8500w’s. These come with a light that also serves as the Wi-Fi/MyQ hub. I also have a myq HomeKit 819lm. I do not have any need for the lights themselves but apparently it is required for myq, which is downright stupid. In talking with liftmaster support we were able to have both door openers on only 1 light kit. I see the HomeKit hub on the myq app but can not add it to HomeKit. Scanned my code, did everything I could be it just won’t work.

Is there anybody at chamberlain or liftmaster that knows what they are doing to get this working? I was told that I needed to contact Apple regarding HomeKit. That’s nuts. This is a liftmaster/chamberlain product.

what happens when you attempt to add to HomeKit? are you getting an error message? Have you removed the old MyQ hub from your Home Kit setup?? If you create a new Home in HomeKit can you add the new MyQ hub there?

Thanks for the reply. Old one is removed. I got to scan the home bridge on the HomeKit app and it just doesn’t appear as a device. Keeps spinning/searching. And yes it’s plugged in. No error messages. New home in HomeKit gives me same results.

that behavior suggests a communication issue between the device scanning the HomeKit barcode and the MyQ gateway. Have you checked the WIFI association across the 3 devices involved? I seem to remember reading something about the encryption between the device and WIFI. are you sure the MyQ is communicating with your network?

yes I'm sure.  i see it in the wifi choices as well.  what i think it is, and hopefully Chamberlain has a workaround is because of the necessity to use the LIGHT as the Myq hub for the 8500w openers, which are wifi openers, i assign each opener to the 1 light hub.  That light hub doesn't seem to communicate with the home bridge, is what I believe is the issue.  That said, I also can't add the home bridge to HOME app even immediately after a reset.
